The Monsignor McCoy Colts senior boys basketball team got in the win column at the 3A provincials Friday.
The Colts beat John Maland school 75-63 in their lone game Friday in Strathmore. The wins sets them up to play for ninth place Saturday at 11 a.m. They picked up the win coming off an opening 89-78 loss Thursday to St. Joseph.
The Colts Sr. girls, also playing in Strathmore, lost thier only game Friday falling 52-39 to Holy Rosary. They dropped thier first game of provincials action with an 80-26 loss Thursday to St.
Albert Catholic.
They’ll play at 9 a.m. Saturday against Peace Wapiti for 11th place.
Hat High Hawks
The Medicine Hat High Hawks sr. basketball teams split thier Friday action at the 4A provincials in Red Deer.
The Hawks Sr. boys team won 78-70 over Holy Trinity Academy. They’ll play for fifth place on Saturday, with a 11 a.m. contest against Archbishop O’Leary.
The Sr. boys won thier first game Thursday, beating Grande Prairie Composite 94-66. They lost their next game, falling 95-90 to Western Canada.
The Hawks Sr. girls lost thier lone action Friday, falling
65-44 to the Leduc Tigers. They lost their first game of the tournament, falling 76-54 Thursday to Foothills Composite.
