They won all four of their games to punch their ticket to provincials March 22-24 in Beaumont. They opened the weekend with a 12-2 win over Airdrie on Saturday. Hannah Thompson and Kayla Robinson each had three goals, Sophie Kerr and Kasey Martin each had two goals and both Avery Wesigerber and Brooklyn Schlenker added a goal each. The Live Wire followed that contest up with a 5-1 win over Calgary Bowview-3 later in the day. Grace Ammann, Kayla Robinson and Kerr each scored and Wesgerber and Kam Reid each added singles defensively. Kyree Stern-Rebmann stood tall in net for both games. On Sunday they opened the day with a 7-5, second-half win over Calgary Bowview-1. The Live Wire led 5-2 early in the second half before Bowview stormed back to tie the game. Thompson scored the game winner, finishing the contest with three goals. Kerr and Robinson each had two goals. They finished their weekend with an 11-4 win over Calgary Bowview-2. Bella Heinrichs led the Live Wire offence with a hat trick. Thompson tallied two goals and all six of Karly Stennick, Mackenzie Tindall, Kamryn Reid, Martin, Kerr and Kayla Robinson added single markers. Stern-Rebmann handled her job in net all weekend by leading the Live Wire to four victories and a perfect 6-0 record in provincial play downs. U16 The Mercury traveled to Calgary for two play-down games. In their first game against the Lethbridge Rattlers, the Mercury came out strong with a 6-5 win. Leighton Wright scored three times, Autumn Heidinger, Margot Kerr and Maren Berstad each added solo markers. Jayna Allchurch had three assists. In their second game against the Calgary South team, the Mercury fell 7-3. Jackiw scored twice and Kerr added a goal. The Mercury ended the play-downs with a 2-2 record, leaving them in a three-way tie for the last provincial spot in their pool. As of press time, Ringette Alberta was still working through the tie breaker rules to see if the Mercury made provincials. If they do, it would be the weekend of March 15 in Lacombe. U14 The Medicine Hat U14 Mayhem travelled to Calgary for their play-downs. The Mayhem won two fo their three games, qualifying them for provincials at the end of the month. The Mayhem beat Bow View 5-4 in their first game Saturday. Sohpia Smith was between the pipes for that game and the offence was led by Sloane Berstad with two goals. Kristyn Want, Breanna Lanuk and Brea Butterfield each scored as well. They faced South Calgary in their second game Saturday, winning 8-7. Lanuk scored three times, Onyka Funk scored twice and all three of Jillian Stokalka, Berstad and Butterfield found the back of the net. Medicine Hat played Cochrane on Sunday morning, falling 9-4. Berstad scored twice, Lacey Gibney and Butterfield each scored. The Mayhem are off until provincials March 22-24. U10 The U10 step 2 Gators took on Okotoks this weekend for their last league games before their final tournament. No scores were submitted, but the offence came from Nora Dunn with five goals, Kylee Drever with four, Jayla-Ray Klaudt with two and Blaire Dirk and Adelynn Mckinley each scoring solo markers. Their final tournament is this weekend in Lethbridge. The U10 step 1 Gators Green and Gold battled each other on Wednesday. No score was submitted. Their season is coming to an end with the U10 step 1 Gators heading to Lethbridge this weekend for their last away tournament. 27
