sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat Cubs came out of the weekend unscathed. After a 2-1 loss Friday to the Okotoks Bisons at home, the Cubs bounced back with a 5-1 win Sunday on the road over the Cochrane Generals to maintain their hold of second place in the South division. The Cubs remain tied with the Coaldale Copperheads for second place with 50 points, but have two games in hand to secure a first-round bye in the playoffs. Medicine Hat scored first Friday night with Caleb Garrecht finding twine. The Bisons then rattled off two unanswered goals for the win, Tyler Wakelam made 29 saves in the loss. Braden Patey led the offence on Sunday with two goals and an assist. Darnell Glasgo tallied two goals and Garrecht added a solo marker. Kyle Woolridge and Jamal Shaw each had two assists and Dominik Jagielski made 22 saves. The Cubs have three games this week to wrap up their regular season. They host the High River Flyers tonight in a rescheduled game, also their final home game before playoffs. They’re on the road Friday against the same Flyers before wrapping the regular season up on Saturday back in Cochrane. Tonight’s game at the Kinplex gets underway at 8:15 p.m. 9
