SALTA Gymnastics Club in preparation for Winter Games

sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The SALTA Gymnastics Club’s athletes participated in their first competition of the season in December. The group was in Wetaskiwin from Dec. 17-19, serving as trials for the 2024 Alberta Winter Games, which takes place Feb. 16-19 in Grand Prairie. CCP Levels 6 and 7 athletes Alexis Hayward, Alivia Theofan, Brynnley Gertner, Camryn Kingsley, Chelsia Cooper, Kenzie Christensen and Skylar Berner represented the club. The competition comprised of four events – vault, balance beam, floor and uneven bars. SALTA athletes earned a total of 11 awards, three gold medals, three silvers and five bronze at the competition. Theofan and Cooper placed Top-4 in the CCP Level 7 category. Both athletes earned a spot to represent Zone 1 at the Alberta Winter Games. Gertner and Kinglsey placed Top-4 in the CCP Level 6 category. Both athletes will also represent Zone 1 at the Alberta Winter Games. 9-8
