sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 men’s team picked up a win over the weekend. They opened with a 4-2 loss Friday to the Edge Hockey Academy. Brayden Ryan-Mackay and Wyatt Yule each scored and Marek Schlenker made 31 saves. SAHA answered the loss with a 6-1 win Saturday over the Calgary International Hockey Academy. Josh Evaschesen scored twice and both Josiah Jackson and Drew Williamson recorded a goal and an assist in the win. Owen Brees notched a goal and two assists and Cole Fisher rounded out the scoring with a goal of his own. Hudson Gainer and Carter Cunningham each had two helpers, Schlenker made 36 saves for the victory. SAHA’s U18 men’s team (11-8-1) isn’t in action again until Feb. 2. U18 women’s team SAHA’s U18 women’s team had only one game over the weekend, falling 2-1 to the Edge school on Saturday. Kamryn Reiber scored SAHA’s one goal and Maddy Ferguson made 22 saves. The team (12-9) is off until Feb. 3 when they host the Edge school at Big Marble Go Centre. U17 The U17 men’s team from SAHA had two games over the weekend against Edge. They opened the weekend falling 3-0 to Edge Gold on Saturday, as Mattias Radke made 34 saves. They answered back with a 7-4 win Sunday. Cole Fisher scored twice and both Jacob Penley and Ty Wasyluk added a goal each. Steven Wawryk made 34 saves in net for the win. The U17 men’s team has three games this weekend against OHA Edmonton, all at the Big Marble Go Centre. They play OHA Friday at 7:45 p.m., Saturday at 3:15 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. 14
