Rattler Roundup: Rattler men’s basketball picks up win over weekend

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers men’s basketball team added a win over the weekend.

The Rattlers split a weekend slate against the Red Deer Polytechnic, with a 90-87 win Friday and 88-76 loss Saturday.

Kieran Isnor had 27 points and five rebounds in Friday’s win. Cooper Ward picked up a double-double, with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

On Saturday, Isnor picked up 26 points and seven rebounds. Ward had his second double-double of the weekend, with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The women’s basketball team also faced off against Red Deer, falling 79-42 on Friday and 88-38 on Saturday.

Breanna O’Connor led the way Friday with 16 points, then 12 points Saturday.

MHC’s men (3-11) and women (2-12) host the SAIT Trojans on Friday before facing them again Saturday at the University of Calgary.

Volleyball

The Rattlers volleyball teams were on the road at Red Deer over the weekend.

The men’s volleyball team lost both matches, falling in three sets Friday (25-19, 25-12, 25-17) and in four sets Saturday (25-21, 26-28, 25-13, 25-16).

Nathan Chernik had 18 kills and Jordan McKee had 13 kills in Friday’s loss.

On Saturday, McKee had 16 kills to lead the way, with Chernik adding 12.

MHC’s women as well lost both matches to Red Deer, in straight sets Friday (25-22, 25-17, 25-16) and again Saturday (25-18, 26-24, 25-10).

Anica Haberstock had nine kills in Friday’s match, adding another seven on Saturday.

The men (2-9) and women (0-11) face the SAIT Trojans this weekend.

Hockey

The women’s hockey team played both Friday and Saturday against the NAIT Ooks. They lost the first game Friday 8-2 and then fell 2-1 on Saturday.

Keirson Kobi scored twice for MHC in Friday’s loss, Jessika Charron made 65 saves.

Kobi scored a power play marker in Saturday’s loss and Charron made 28 saves

The Rattlers (0-16) are on the road this weekend for two games against Red Deer.

Futsal

The Rattlers futsal teams hosted the Lethbridge Kodiaks on Saturday.

The women tied the Kodiaks 2-2 and the men came out on top with an 8-5 victory. Scoring results were not posted.
