The Hawks took first place in their locally held tournament over the weekend. In the opening round, Hat High outplayed Archbishop Macdonald in a decisive 117-49 win. Trey Watson led the charge with 16 points and nine assists, and Theo Coombs contributed 16 points of his own. The semifinal matchup against WH Croxford ended in an 89-49 victory for the Hawks. Former Hat High alumni Josiah Donahue was behind the bench for WH Croxford. Medicine Hat’s Jada Bolok led the way with 21 points. In the finals against Brooks, MHHS secured first place with a 102-80 win. Watson and Bolok both scored 21 points each. Bolok was named tournament MVP and Watson earned the title of tournament all-star. Bolok averaged 19 points and eight rebounds, while Watson averaged 17 points and six assists over the three games. The senior boys kicked off their home campaign Tuesday. 9
