Ringette roundup: U12B Fury drop weekend slate ahead of Ed Horvath

The U12B Fury were on the road this weekend in Calgary for a double header.

The U12 ringette team was taking on the two South Calgary U12B teams.

Their first game was all-offence affair, falling 12-11. Kassidy Etienne scored four times, Ally Martin added a trio of goals and Arika McDowall, Peytn Howes, Annebelle O’Reilly and Evangeline Robins each scored as well. Danna Sawchuk was in net.

The second game was more defensive, with the Fury falling 6-4. E. Robins was in net and the Fury’s goals were scored by McDowall, who potted two, Etienne and Martin.

The Fury will be in action again this weekend at the locally held Ed Horvath tournament.

U19

The U19 Live Wire cruised through their final weekend before the Ed Horvath.

The Live Wire swept their weekend, beating South Calgary 6-4 on Saturday and doubling down with a 10-0 victory later in the day against Strathmore.

After falling behind early in their first game, the Live Wire rallied to lead 5-2 at the half before holding on for the 6-4 victory. That win was led by Mackenzie Tindall and Hannah Thompson, who each had two goals, while Sophie Kerr and Kasey Martin each added a goal.

In their second win, Kyle Stern-Robinson picked up her first shutout of the season. Thompson had three goals for the Live Wire with Kayla Robinson and Kerr potting two goals each. Ava Allchurch, Martin and Tindall each scored a goal as well.

With the win, the Live Wire pull into first place of the U19 Chinook league with a 6-1-1 record.

U10

The Gators had a weekend of improvement for the U10 Black team. They played a double header in Airdrie. Maizee Trotter led the way with five goals for the day, Nora Dunn got her first goal and added two others, and Jayla Klaut also had three goals of her own. Blaire Dirk stood tall in net with 40 saves.

The next action for the Gators Black is at the Ed Horvath.
