jtubb@medicinehatnews.com@ReporterTubb The Medicine Hat Tigers are looking to get back in the win column by heading to Manitoba. The Tigers leave today for Brandon ahead of their matchup against the Wheat Kings, the first time the two teams have met this season. Medicine Hat heads into the contest off a 6-3 loss Tuesday night at Swift Current against the Broncos, which snapped the Tigers’ four-game winning streak. That streak had been their longest string of wins since the 2019-20 season. Head coach Willie Desjardins says it was a game they should have won. “Swift played well, they have a lot of speed and I thought we played parts of the game pretty good,” Desjardins said. “But we took ourselves out a little bit with discipline. It’s a game where you have to find a way to win that game.” Tigers forward Vasyl Spilka has been out of the lineup since suffering a lower-body injury early in a game on Nov. 10 against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Desjardins says the Czechia forward will be out “for a little bit.” The Tigers’ next home game is Wednesday when they host the Regina Pats. Before then, they’ll host their skate with the Tigers on Nov. 27 at Co-op Place. Fans can lace ’em up with their favourite Tabbies from 6-8 p.m. The event is free of charge but donations to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Medicine Hat and District are appreciated. Editors note: An earlier version of the story reported the wrong date for the Tigers fan skate. 13
