Minor Hockey roundup: U15AA SEAC Tigers split weekend contests

The Medicine Hat U15AA South East Athletic Club Tigers drew even on their weekend slate.

The Tigers opened their weekend with a 4-1 win Saturday over the Foothills Bisons.

Jaxon Martin and Brogan Verishine each had a goal and an assist and both Creed Geekie and George Maser added a goal of their own. Cooper Craven and Chase Droeske added two assists each.

Jake Druar made 30 saves in the win.

SEAC dropped their second game of the weekend, falling 4-2 in a rematch with the Bisons on Sunday. Chase Murphy scored both of the Tigers’ goals and Connor Aldag made 23 saves.

The Tigers (6-2-1) have one road game next weekend.

The U15AAA SEAC Tigers lost both of their games over the weekend, falling 4-2 against the Okotoks Oilers on Saturday and 9-2 against the Calgary Flames on Sunday.

Illya Khazov and Logan Neuls each scored for SEAC on Saturday and Paxton Smigelski made 29 saves.

In Sunday’s loss, Curtis Martin and Carter Gilchrist scored the Tigers’ offence, Alexander Shushkov turned aside 58 shots.

The Tigers (0-6) host the Lethbridge Golden Hawks on Saturday before hitting the road Sunday to face the Flames.

U16

The U16AA Hounds went winless in their two games this weekend, falling 6-3 against the Wheatland Raiders on Friday before tying the Lethrbdige Hurricanes 3-3 on Saturday.

Ryder Van Buskirk had a goal and an assist in Friday’s loss with Jaxon Bohrn and Carson Dame adding a goal each. Kayden Van Ham made 44 saves.

In Saturday’s draw, Mavric Ward notched a goal and an assist and Jaxon Benci and Ethan Hall each scored a goal. Between the pipes, Grady Brost turned aside 28 shots.

The U16AA Hounds (2-5-1) have two games on the road this weekend.

U17

The U17AAA SEAC Tigers dropped both of their games over the weekend, falling 5-1 against the Calgary Flames on Saturday and 3-1 against the Okotoks Oilers on Sunday.

Elijah Fleck had SEAC’s lone goal Saturday and Kayne Wright made 34 saves.

Fleck also scored Medicine Hat’s only goal on Sunday, with Kolter Gans turning away 34 shots.

The U17AAA Tigers (4-3) host the Red Deer North Star Chiefs for a two-game set on Saturday and Sunday.

U18

The Medicine Hat U18AA Hounds lost their weekend slate, falling 4-1 Friday against the CRAA Gold and 4-1 to the Okotoks Oilers on Saturday.

Hayden Gebhart had the Hounds’ only goal on Friday and Parker McLaughlin made 24 saves.

Everett Liefso had a goal on Saturday and Adam ranger had 43 saves.

The U18 Hounds (1-3-2) host the Foothills Bisons on Friday before hitting the road on Sunday.

U13

The U13AA Hounds lost their first game of the weekend, falling 6-4 against the Olds Grizzlys on Saturday. Macen Ibach scored twice, Carter Jarvis added a goal and an assist and Lincoln Steinkey had a solo marker for the Hounds offence. Colson Neigum made 29 saves.

The Hounds faced the Foothills Bisons on Sunday, results were not posted by press time.

The U13AA Hounds (5-3-1) host the Bisons on Saturday.
