The Royals opened their ringette season with an 8-2 loss Sunday against the Rockyford Ringers. Jorja Sadler and Rielle Forsyth scored for Medicine Hat in the loss. The Royals found their rhythm in their second game of the day, coming up just shy in an 11-9 loss. The Royals goals were scored by Forsyth, Haven Ward and Sadler. The U12 Royals are in action Sunday for a two-game set at the Moose Recreation Centre. U16 The U16 Mercury started their season hosting two home games against the Calgary North West Nitro. In the first game the Mercury trailed 4-1 in the first half before a regroup helped them tie the game at 6-6. Ryleigh Jackiw and Erika Want led the offence with two goals and an assist each with Leighton Wright and Eden Schmuck adding a goal each as well. In their second game of the day, the Mercury’s came out with a loss with a short bench playing a role. Wright had two goals with Want, Schmuck, Jackiw and Margot Kerr each adding a goal. The Mercury host their next set of games on Oct. 29 at the Moose at 1 and 4 p.m. against Bow View. U19 The U19 Medicine Hat Live Wire topped the Cochrane Rockies by a score of 6-3 on Saturday. Live Wire scoring was led by Avery Weisgerber and Kayla Robinson who had two goals each, while Sophie Kerr and Hannah Thompson had single markers. The Live Wire faced the Cochrane Rockies in a game later in the day, with Kyrie Stern-Rebmann turning away 38 shots securing a point in a 3-3 tie. The Live Wire are on the road this weekend. 13
