Eight seconds will feel like an eternity when the Professionals Bull Riders Canada rolls into Co-op Place on Saturday.
PBR Canada is making its third appearance in Medicine Hat, bringing the Cup Series and the Medicine Hat Classic back to the Gas City. The Canadian Cup Series was last at Co-op Place in October 2022 when Brock Radford went a perfect 2-2 to win the PBR Medicine Hat Classic.
This year’s Classic features Chad Hartman of Lancer, Sask., who is looking to finish his career-best season with a bang. He is ranked sixth in the nation and his year is headlined so far by a win on the Touring Pro Division in Calgary.
It’s an event Hartman says he’s looked forward to and is expecting to see a lot of familiar faces in the stands.
“It’s the closet cup event I have to where I live and all of my friends and family will be out, so I’m excited.”
He’s looking for his first Cup Series win, which he could accomplish Saturday night. He credits his rise through the ranks to growing his confidence.
“Just showing up knowing I can compete and do as good as I’ve been doing. The confidence is the biggest thing out there,” Hartman said.
“It’s just (from) going enough, I went to the States last winter and that helped a lot. It’s all just clicked better year and it’s going good.”
On top of working toward his first Cup Series win and climbing into the top-three rankings, Hartman says he’s looking forward to being part of the show Saturday and entertaining the city.
“Medicine Hat is always a good crowd, when they’re loud, everybody rides better and that’s what makes the show the best,” Hartman said.
PBR’s Medicine Hat Classic gets underway Saturday at 7 p.m.
