sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Cayden Lindstrom helped kick off Team Canada’s pre-tournament schedule for the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in style. The Medicine Hat Tigers forward had tow goals and two assists in Canada’s 7-1 win over Hungary’s national men’s U20 team. Lindstrom spoke postgame with media about Canada coming together as a team. “We haven’t played a game in a while, so at the start we were pretty rusty,” he said in a release. “We were still blocking shots, doing the right things and in the third period we showed how we can play. This was a good start for us as a group; Hungary worked hard against us and pushed us to be better.” Berkly Catton of the Spokane Chiefs had two assists, Brandon Wheat Kings Charlie Elick scored 39 seconds into the contest and Carson Wetsch of the Calgary Hitmen added a goal as well. The U18 Canadians outshot Hungary 47-26. Next up for Lindstrom and Team Canada, they’ll face Czechia in another pre-tournament game. That contest gets underway Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and can be seen on TSN. 7
