Medicine Hat was well represented in the swimming lanes at the Alberta Summer Games this weekend.
The city was represented by 12 local swimmers at the Games held in Okotoks, featuring athletes from across the province divided between zones. There were 168 swimmers in total representing their eight designated Alberta zones, here are the local, Zone 1 swimmer short course results.
2008-born swimmers
Abigail Begin (15) from AMAC Swim Club achieved one new best time. She placed second in 200m backstroke, third in 50m back, fourth in 200m freestyle A-relay, 100m back and 100m breaststroke, sixth in 50m butterfly and seventh in 100m fly.
Kaden Goffinet (14) from Waves Swim Club achieved five new best times and a new 14-15 year old provincial time in 800m free placing first. He also placed second in 200m medley A-relay and 200m free, third in 400m free, fourth in 200m breast and sixth in 50m breast.
Wyatt Gage (14) from Manta Rays Summer Swim Club achieved six new best times, placing fourth in 200m free A-relay, fifth in 100m fly, seventh in 100m breast, eighth in 100m free and 50m free and ninth in 100m back and 50m breast.
2009-born swimmers
Aydria Berg (14) from AMAC achieved four new best times, placing fourth in 200m free A-relay, fifth in 200m breast, 10th in 100m back, 11th in 50m back and 50m breast, 12th in 100m breast and 13th in 100m free.
Caen McWilliams (13) from AMAC achieved one new best time and a 13-and-under provincial time in 200m IM. He placed first in 800m free, second in 200m medley A-relay, third in 400m free, fourth in 200m IM, sixth in 200m back and ninth in 100m free.
Leo Yonkman (13) from AMAC achieved six new best times, placing fourth in 200m free A-relay, sixth in 50m breast, eighth in 50m free, ninth in 100m breast and 50m fly, 11th in 100m free and 12th in 50m back.
2010-born swimmers
Estelle Grisak (12) from AMAC achieved four new best times and a new 12-and-under provincial time in 200m back, placing second. She also placed fifth in 200m free A-relay, sixth in 100m back, 10th in 50m back, 11th in 50m free, 12th in 100m free and 13th in 50m fly.
Aliya Seeley (13) from AMAC achieved four new best times, placing fourth in 400m free, fifth in 200m free A-relay and 400m IM, sixth in 200m free, seventh in 100m back, eighth in 100m IM and 11th in 50m back.
2011-born swimmers
Nayla Berg (11) from AMAC achieved five new best times and two new 12-and-under provincial times in 100m and 200m breast. She placed third in 100m breast, fourth in 50m and 200m breast, fifth in 200m medley A-relay, sixth in 100m IM and eighth in 100m back.
Lily McWilliams (12) from AMAC achieved five new best times and three new 12-and-under provincial times in 50m back, 400m free and 800m free. She placed third in 50m and 800m free, fourth in 200m free, fifth in 100m free, 400m free, 200m free A-relay and 200m medley A-relay and eighth in 50m back.
Masao Mori (11) from AMAC achieved four new best times and achieved a new 13-and-under provincial time in 400m IM. He placed second in 100m fly and 100m IM, third in 400m IM, fourth in 50m breast and 200m IM, fifth in 100m Back, sixth in 200m medley A-relay and seventh in 200m free A-relay.
Sophie Baht (12) from Waves achieved six new best times, placing fourth in 100m breast, fifth in 100m fly and 200m medley A-Relay, sixth in 50m breast, seventh in 50m fly and eighth in 50m free and 100m IM.
