sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling Club welcomed teams from around Alberta to showcase their skills over the weekend. The local lawn bowling club hosted its sixth annual Memorial Triples Tournament. There were 13 teams competing in the tournament, with local teams facing off against other squads from Edmonton Highlands Lawn Bowling Club, Edmonton Royal LBC and Edmonton Commonwealth LBC. Local lawn bowlers Barb Moll, Curt Moll and Eric Moll won the ‘A’ championship by beating Francis Jo, Barbara Johnston and Margaret McDonald (Royal LBC) 8-7. The 2023 ‘A’ championship marked the Molls’ second title in the last three tournaments. The ‘B’ championship went to a road team, Peter McCluskey, Ian Smythe, Dolly Gouw and Ang Gouw (Royal LBC) who beat the local trio of Mike Gilchrist, Cave Starling and Marina Gilchrist 7-4. The ‘C’ championship was also won by a road trio against a home team. Barbara Spencer, Tony Spencer and Monika Pachan (Highlands LBC) defeated locals Doug Sanregret, Yvonne Sanregret, and Janette Starling 11-4. Luc Dumoulin, Joe Van Alstine and Fay Wilson (Royal LBC) won the ‘D’ championship by defeating Richard Turner, Thelma Melnichuk and Sandra Angell (Highlands LBC) 15-2. The Ben Osterman Award for top skip went to Francis Jo of Royal LBC. The Howard Davison team award went to Dean Millward, Casey Millward, Fay Wilson, and Georgia Leger of Royal LBC. 12
