The South East Alberta Volleyball Club U18 men’s team is coming off a golden weekend.
The Medicine Hat club volleyball team won gold in Div. II at provincials Sunday at Sarcee Seven Chiefs arena in Calgary.
The SEAVC Rattlers 18U men’s team went 2-1 in pool play and beat the High Altitude Volleyball Club from Elkford in the first round of playoffs 25-17, 25-21.
They beat Jasper Peak 25-15, 25-16 to punch a ticket into the finals.
In the final, they played Canuck from Calgary and won in three sets taking the first one 25-14, losing the second 19-25 before winning the final set 16-14. In that final set they came back from being down 14-10 before notching six straight points to capture the set and win the game.
Over the course of the tournament (six matches total) Alex Baird and Joel Lehr led the way in kills with 41 and 32 kills respectively.
Landon Shaw had 22 blocks and Connor Aasman had eight service aces. Shaw and Lehr were selected as tournament all stars.
