Minor Hockey Roundup: U16 AAA Tigers drop a pair over weekend

South East Athletic Club’s U16 AAA Tigers dropped a pair of games this weekend, 4-3 to the Calgary Northstars on Saturday and 5-2 to the Red Deer North Stars on Sunday.

Deegen Bert had three assists Saturday, while Makhi Carriere, Wyatt Dreger and Quade Vanderspruit were responsible for the goals.

Keegen Stenger stopped 26 shots in the loss.

Hayden Gebhardt and Noah Derouin scored SEAC’s Sunday goals, while Kaige Schafer stopped 25 between the pipes.

The Tigers (17-16-0) finish off the Alberta Elite Hockey League’s regular season schedule on Sunday in Calgary against the NWCAA Flames.

U18 AA boys

The Medicine Hat U18 AA Hounds settled for a 4-4 tie with the Wheatland Chiefs on Saturday night at the Kinplex.

Kyle Woolridge led the offence with a goal and two assists, while Joshua Drefs and Ty Flaig both added a goal and an assist, Gavin Smith had two helpers, and Joseph Hackett rounded out the scoring.

Tyler Wakelam backed the Hounds to the stalemate with a 33-save performance.

The Hounds (17-8-8) close out the South Central Alberta Hockey League’s regular season Friday when they host the Airdrie Lightning at the Kinplex.

U15 AAA boys

South East Athletic Club’s U15 AAA Tigers rallied to a 7-5 victory over the Sherwood Park Flyers on Saturday at the Hockey Hounds Recreation Centre.

Colby Motz had two goals and an assist, while Hudson Gainer added a goal and two helpers, Colson Wereley had one of each and Kayden Yeaman tacked on two assists.

Slade McFadzen, Ty Wasyluk and Joey Clarke rounded out the scoring.

Adler Ames collected the win with a 33-save performance.

The Tigers now look to the playoffs after finishing the Alberta Elite Hockey League season at 15-17-2.

U15 AA girls

The Southern Express U15 AA squad was ousted from the Alberta Female Hockey League playoffs with two straight losses to Calgary Fire Red this weekend, 4-2 on Friday and 4-3 on Saturday.

Kiera Grant and Keyana Bert scored for the Express Friday, while Taya Christie stopped 23 shots in the loss.

Brooklyn Many Grey Horses, Julie Barlow and Jayda Becker all scored on Saturday, while Brooklyn Adams stopped 37 shots in the loss.

U15 AA boys

South East Athletic Club’s U15 AA Tigers fell 4-3 to the Red Deer Steel Kings on Sunday at the Hockey Hounds.

Randen Collier led the SEAC offence with a goal and an assist, while Ethan Hall and Ty Wasyluk rounded out the scoring.

Parker McLaughlin stopped 34 shots in the loss.

The Tigers (18-10-4) close out the SCAHL regular season on Thursday when they host the Okotoks Oilers at the Hockey Hounds.

U15 A girls

Medicine Hat’s U15 A girls hockey team was eliminated from the second round of Rocky Mountain Female Hockey League’s post-season with two losses to Lethbridge over the weekend, 2-0 Friday, then 2-0 again on Saturday.

Medicine Hat advanced to the second round after defeating Stettler with a 4-4 tie and a 4-2 win in the opening round of the playoffs.

U13 AA boys

The Medicine Hat Hounds Black U13 AA boys hockey team split the weekend with a 7-1 win over the Foothills Bisons on Saturday and a 7-2 loss to the Okotoks Oilers Black on Sunday.

Ilya Khazov led the Hat offence Saturday with two goals and two assists. George Maser, Madden Wright, Vann Boiteau, Caleb Whyte-Duheme and Kane Bishop added individual tallies to round out the scoring.

Marshall Turner stopped 26 shots to secure the win.

Trevin Ibach and Khazov scored Medicine Hat’s only goals Sunday, while Whyte-Duheme assisted on both.

MacInnis Harvey-Zenk stopped 11 shots in the loss.

The Hounds Black (15-12-1) return to the ice Saturday against the West Central Tigers before closing out the SCAHL regular season against the Medicine Hat Hounds Orange (8-17-4), who were not in action over the weekend.
