Minor Hockey Roundup: U15 AA Tigers sweep weekend

The South East Athletic Club Tigers U15 AA squad rallied to back-to-back victories this weekend, defeating the Lethbridge Hurricanes 6-3 on Saturday and the Olds Grizzlies 5-3 on Sunday.

Parker Kienzle scored twice Saturday, while Leighton Verishine, Kian Green and Logan Weiss all added a goal and an assist. Austin Murphy and Davin Torgerson both had a pair of assists, while Ethan Hall rounded out the scoring and Parker McLaughlin stopped 27 shots in the win.

Randen Collier and Baker Thompson led Sunday’s offence with a goal and an assist each, while Austin Murphy, Ethan Hall and Kian Green rounded out the scoring.

Kayne Wright stopped 49 shots to secure the win.

The Tigers (10-5-3) return to the ice Friday to face the Golden Suns (4-11-0) in Taber before breaking for the Holidays.

U18 AA boys

The Medicine Hat Hounds U18 AA boys hockey team split their weekend on the ice with a 6-3 loss to the Okotoks Oilers and a 5-2 win over the NWCAA Stamps.

Kyle Woolridge led Sunday’s offence with four goals, while Joshua Drefs had four assists, Caleb Garrecht added three, and Jacob Hazzard rounded out the scoring.

Tyler Wakelam stopped 29 shots in the victory.

Kadin Pahl, Braden Patey and Garrecht all scored in Friday’s loss, while Kaiden Morin stopped 32 shots.

The Hounds (10-3-5) return to the ice Friday to face the Hurricanes (5-10-3) in Lethbridge.

U16 AA boys

The Medicine Hat Hounds U16 AA boys hockey team rebounded from an 8-0 loss to the NWCAA Bruins on Saturday with a 2-1 comeback victory over the CBHA Rangers Sunday.

Down 1-0 entering Sunday’s third period, Treyson Girletz and Kohen McClain scored in succession to power the Hounds back into the win column.

The Hounds (4-14-1) close out the 2021 portion of their season with a pair of games on the road this weekend.

U16 AAA boys

South East Athletic Club’s U16 AAA Tigers defeated the Calgary Royals 3-2 in overtime on Saturday.

Deegen Bert had a goal and two assists, while Makhi Carriere had a goal of his own and Jesse Klimosko scored 1:53 into overtime to spoil a late comeback from Calgary.

Kaige Schafer stopped 27 shots for the win.

The Tigers (8-10-0) are back at the Hockey Hounds on Friday to host the Calgary Flames.

U15 A girls

Medicine Hat’s U15 A girls hockey team split its weekend on the ice with a 7-0 loss to Okotoks Saturday and a 5-1 win over Airdrie Sunday.

Sarah Potter led Medicine Hat Sunday with two goals, bolstered by individual tallies from Jayden Dennison, Savannah Donnelly and Alyssa Guy.

Rehn Hall stopped 37 shots in the victory, pushing Medicine Hat to 2-5-0 on the Rocky Mountain Female Hockey League season.

Medicine Hat returns to the ice Friday to face Airdrie.

U15 AA girls

The Southern Express U15 AA girls hockey team collected a pair of victories this weekend, 5-2 over the North Central Impact on Saturday and 2-1 over the Lloydminster Steelers on Sunday.

Cambelle Gross had two goals in Saturday’s win, while Keyana Bert had a goal and an assist. Julie Barlow and Traeh Hall each had a goal, while Brooklyn Many Grey Horses and Keira Grant had two assists each. Taya Christie stopped 22 shots in the win.

Barlow and Jessica Hudson scored Sunday to keep the Express in the win column, while Brooklynn Adams stopped 20 shots to push the Express to 7-4-2 on the Alberta Female Hockey League season.

The Express are on the road Saturday to face the St. Albert Chargers.

U15 AAA boys

South East Athletic Club’s U15 AAA Tigers shook off a 6-1 loss to the Red Deer Rebels Saturday and rebounded with a 5-2 win over the Lethbridge Golden Hawks on Sunday.

Cole Fisher led Sunday’s offence with two goals and an assist, while Josiah Jackson and Hudson Gainer both had one of each and Kayden Yeaman rounded out the scoring.

Adler Ames stopped 22 shots for the win.

Kieran Wyrostok scored Saturday’s lone goal, while Ames stopped 33 shots.

The Tigers (9-7-2) host Red Deer on Saturday at the Hockey Hounds.

U13 AA boys

The U13 AA Medicine Hat Hounds Black boys hockey team won an 8-4 barnburner over the Foothills Bisons Saturday, while the Hounds Orange battled to a 4-4 tie with the Okotoks Oilers Green.

Leading Black’s offence was Vann Boiteau with two goals and an assist, as well as Ilya Khazov and Rhyder Arnold, who had a goal and two helpers each. Ethan Chenard had one of each, while Logan Nuels added two assists. George Maser, Carter Gilchrist and Caleb Whyte-Duheme all scored individual tallies.

Marshall Turned stopped 15 shots in the win.

Ethan Grad led Orange with a goal and an assist, while Brogan Verishine, Kian Lang and Evander Leupold rounded out the scoring. Lucas Fisher and Myla Motz both added two helpers, while Bryden Tschritter stopped 21 shots to earn the tie.

The Hounds Black (10-6-0) return to action on the road Saturday against the Central Alberta Selects, while Orange (4-9-3) is back the same day to face the Motors in Red Deer.
