Bulldogs hit indoor meet in Edmonton

By Medicine Hat News on January 23, 2020.

Indoor track season continued for the Bulldogs Track and Field Club this past weekend with a meet in Edmonton.

Orin May had a standout meet, finishing second in the 60 metre hurdles for the under-20 division and third in the 60 metre sprint. He was a hundredth of a second away from the podium in the 200, but coach Sean Freeman notes May has times in each event that put him among the top 50 in Canada.

Freeman himself hit the track with a fourth-place finish in masters division long jump.

Dustin Morris was the lone gold medallist from the Bulldogs, though his win in under-18 triple jump was uncontested. Morris was also fourth in long jump.

Kiana Farrel had a silver in 300 metres and bronze in the 200 in under-20 races, then set a personal best in finishing sixth in the 60.

Renae Ryan was second in the open women’s 200 metre and 29th in the 60. Fellow university-level athlete Madison Kane-Rissling – competing under the University of Calgary banner – was ninth in both high jump and pentathlon.

In under-20, Lukas Herter had ninth-place finishes in 300 and 600 metre, plus a 13th-place result in 60 metre.
