Janick Lacroix continues to impress, no matter which side of the border he’s on.
The junior boxer won in Arizona this past weekend, scoring a technical knockout of California’s Mariko Flores in the second round at the Gene Lewis Invitational.
Coach Kerry Fahlman wrote that the first round “was very close but Janick dominated after that to take home the win.”
Lacroix, a defending Canadian champion, already has a spot at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer coming up, plus nationals after that, so expect his ring schedule to remain busy.
Fahlman will coach Alberta at the Games. Next weekend he’ll take his star to Edmonton for a bout against another American.
Other Medicine Hat Boxing Club members in action this past weekend were Stefan Judge and Francis Ang. At the Alberta Sub Novice Tournament in Cochrane, Judge lost to Calgary’s Haydon Moffat in a 66 kilogram junior fight, while Ang beat Yukon fighter Rosuel Carpino in 56 kg senior.
