Waves open in Lethbridge with lots of bests

The Medicine Hat Waves swim club is already in competitive mode.
The Waves were in Lethbridge this past weekend for the annual Fall Classic, and got personal best times in 89 of the 106 races they competed in.
Karsten Senft and Johnathan Marshall both won gold medals, among 36 top-eight placings for Waves swimmers. Senft, 13, touched first in the 200 metre freestyle and had top-eight results in six of his seven events. Marshall, 11, won the 100 metre individual medley plus took bronze in the 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 100 breast.
Thirteen-year-old Jaivyn Barabe was third in her 50 and 100 metre breaststroke to be the Waves’ only other multiple medallist. Jericho Raneses (15, second in 100 breast), Anna Nozewski (18, second in 50 breast) and Cambria Henderson-Muryn (9, third in 50 breast) were the team’s other podium finishers.
Henderson-Muryn and 10-year-old Kage Senft also qualified for a provincial meet in Cochrane later this month.
