Medicine Hat News The Medicine Hat Tigers closed the book on their pre-season campaign with a second consecutive shutout on Saturday night at the Enmax Centrium. Garin Bjorklund and Mads Søgaard combined for 34 saves to blank the Red Deer Rebels 3-0 and send their Tigers into the regular season on a winning note. Bjorklund — Medicine Hat’s first round from the 2017 Western Hockey League bantam draft – turned aside 13 shots after stopping all 16 he saw in last weekend’s 3-0 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors. Søgaard stopped 21 more to secure the victory and push Medicine Hat’s pre-season record to 3-1-1-0. Tigers forward Dawson Heathcote opened the scoring with his third of the pre-season halfway through the first. Gary Haden doubled up on the lead on a power play in the second, then Tyler Preziuso iced the game with an empty-netter in the final minutes of the third. Rebels goaltender Ethan Anders took the loss on 42 saves. The Tigers open the regular season Friday in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes at 7 p.m. Both teams make the trip down Highway 3 to the Canalta Centre to close out a home-and-home set Saturday at 7:30 p.m. 8
