Medicine Hat News The Medicine Hat Tigers signed another two players from their 2018 bantam draft class Friday. Fourth-round selection Ashton Ferster and fifth-round pick Rhett Parsons both affirmed their intention to play for the Tigers at some point in the future. Both got ice time in a 5-4 overtime loss at Lethbridge to open the pre-season, each winding up with minus-1 plus-minus ratings. Tigers director of personnel Bobby Fox was quoted in press releases touting the upsides of each prospect. “Ashton is a smart, hard-working forward with scoring drive,” Fox said of Ferster, a forward from Prince Albert. “He knows how to get open and has an accurate shot. He has a high ceiling and we are excited to monitor his progress.” In 31 bantam AA games last season Ferster had 60 points. Parsons, a defenceman from Cremona, had eight points in 36 games with Airdrie’s bantam AAA team. “Rhett is a smart and competitive two-way defenceman,” said Fox. “He’s tough to play against and willing to pay a price on the ice. He has shown considerable improvement and we are excited about his continued development. The Tigers play Lethbridge again in Taber Saturday. Next weekend they play in Moose Jaw Friday, then host the Warriors Saturday, Sept. 8 in Irvine. 11
