Two Medicine Hat baseball players were recognized over the weekend with all-star nods from the Montana-Alberta American Legion divisions they played in.

Moose Monarchs outfielder Jack Suhai and K of C Knights catcher Reese Whelen were both named to their respective all-star teams.

Suhai was among four AA all-conference outfielders named. Whelen was named to the single-A North District’s all-star team as a utility player, as he caught, pitched and played wherever the team needed him.

Neither team made it to their respective state tournaments, with the Monarchs edged out in the regular season and the Knights falling at the district tournament.

Whelen was named the Knights’ MVP last week.
