Medicine Hat News

After announcing she’d miss nationals due to a foot injury, it was easy to assume the worst for Sage Watson’s season.

But there she was Saturday, on the start line at the Diamond League’s event in London.

The Seven Persons 400 metre hurdles specialist finished eighth in 56.21 seconds, far off her season’s best of 54.55, but the key was that she’s back at all.

Prior to the race, Watson told the CBC’s Doug Harrison that she suffered a sprained right foot last month, but that she only considered it a “little bump in my season.”

Watson is slated to compete in Toronto Aug. 10-12.
