Medicine Hat’s major AAA baseball all-stars are in the provincial semifinals today in Lethbridge.
The team dropped a 7-4 decision to the host Southwest team Tuesday, winding up second in the round robin. They’ll play Calgary West, while Southwest draws Calgary’s Fish Creek in the other semi.
The winners square off Thursday evening for the right to go to nationals in Quebec.
Medicine Hat beat Fish Creek 6-5 Monday on Fischer Haysom’s game-winning RBI single, culminating a huge comeback from 5-0 down.
On Tuesday they led 4-2 but only managed three hits in a rain-soaked affair. Carson Christianson had a 2-RBI double to lead the attack, while Hayson took the loss, giving up six hits in five innings.
