The Medicine Hat AAA junior All Stars are heading to nationals.

The All Stars punched their ticket to the Junior Little League Canadian Championship with a two-game sweep over Cal West Tuesday, running out their opponents with 22-4 and 22-0 victories.

The junior squad features a number of players who graduated from last year’s Hat major AAA team, which competed at the Canadian Little League Championship on home turf last summer. Junior coach Jeff Hall says that experience seems to be shining through in his team’s younger players this season.

“I think it’s really going to help these younger guys,” Hall said during the weekend’s home tournament. “They’ve got that experience from last year and you can tell they’ve got that maturity.”

The All Stars kick off their national campaign July 28 in Lethbridge. The tournament continues through Aug. 5.
