Playoffs are done for teams in the Medicine Hat Minor Softball League, but provincials are still ahead for a handful.
Under-14, under-12 and under-10 divisions held their end-of-season tournaments in Redcliff this past weekend. More than 200 athletes took part but only a few dozen wound up with first-place medals Sunday.
In the under-14 division, the Blackouts team edged the Red Bulls 9-7 for gold.
In under-12 it was the Orange Crush defeating the Black Beards 10-8 in the championship game Sunday.
The Red Rockets won the under-10 group, beating out the team from Irvine 13-11.
Four Hat all-star teams are already gearing up for provincials, including the under-12 Thunder. The Thunder are unbeaten this season when facing same-age competition, including wins over Bassano (25-12 June 3, 15-13 June 9), Elkford (12-1 June 16) and Lethbridge (16-6 June 16). Their Alberta championships begin July 6 in Edmonton.
