Medicine Hat News It was a shootout at the Hat High gym Tuesday, but one the Mohawks couldn’t wrangle. The Raymond Comets beat the Mohawks in Southern Alberta High School Basketball League action, 109-104. Eidan Jonker’s 28 points for the host side led all scorers, but three Comets starters all wound up with more than 20 points in the high-octane matchup. Garrett Hasegawa had 27, Drake Still 26 and Jeter Heggie 22 for Raymond, which improved to 7-4 in league play. Ethan Egert had 18 and Bailey Gosse 16 in a losing cause for the Mohawks, who are now 2-6. The Mohawks are next at home Feb. 23 to LCI. They’ve got a busy homestretch leading into the 4A zone competition in March, with six more league games scheduled. In junior varsity play, Raymond earned a 93-73 win despite only leading by two at the half. Comet Jaxon West’s 30 points led all scorers, while Austin Walton topped Hat High with 24. The junior Mohawks are also 2-6, while Raymond improved to 4-7. 10
