Former Medicine Hat Tigers head coach Perry Pearn is taking his talents to PyeongChang.

Pearn recently joined up with Canada’s women’s hockey team as an assistant coach, making him the third former Tigers player or employee to participate for the Great White North at the upcoming 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea.

Pearn served as bench boss for the tigers during the 1994-95 season, compiling a 38-32-2 record during his tenure. The Stettler product went on to fill a handful of different assistant coaching roles in the NHL, including eight seasons with the Ottawa Senators, four with the New York Rangers and three with the Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks.

While Pearn does not directly join any Tigers alumnus on the women’s team, fellow former coach Willie Desjardins will be the bench boss for Canada’s men’s team, while forward Linden Vey — who played under Desjardins in the WHL and NHL — will compete on the ice.

Team Canada’s women’s hockey team will begin their pursuit of gold in PyeongChang on Feb. 11.
