Medicine Hat News The U16A Mission ringette team had a busy but productive weekend — playing and winning four games. The team’s first test was Saturday in Cochrane, against the Rockies. The Mission was able to hold on for a 6-5 win. Cassidy Stock, Jada Harper and Maggie Carrier each scored two goals in the win. The team then played in Strathmore late in the day and came out with a 9-6 win. The Mission then played two home games, beating Cochrane 10-2 and again later in the day 6-4. Goaltending was split between Mikayla Claypool and Sydney Carlson. The Mission are 3-2 in league play placing the team in fourth position. The U14B Rogue also had a successful weekend, winning two games. The Medicine Hat Rogue beat the South Calgary Nightmares 8-0 for their first win Sunday. Hat-tricks came from Joren Gramlich and Jena Harty, while RheagynHeinrichs made 29 saves for the shutout. The Rogue then took down the Bow View Inferno 9-5. Novalee Newton scored got a first-career goal, while Harty scored three more. The Rogue move to a 4-0-0 record and sit in first place in southern Alberta league play. Over the weekend the Medicine Hat Fireblades started off their first league games of the season strong, winning 17-1 against Indus Lightning. The winning ways continued in their second game, where the Fireblades won 17-0 against the Indus Lightning. Maren Berstad and Raven Lehr scored hat tricks, and Sadie Berstad had the shutout. The Medicine Hat U12b Rage played two games in Calgary this weekend. Game one paired the Rage up against El Pase Libre. Hannah Thompson led the charge scoring the first three goals, followed by a goal each for Eva Chartrand and Jordy Provost.Ringette newcomer Abigail Mandal picked up a pair of assists but despite the effort the Rage took a loss with a final score of 7-5. The second game matched the Rage up against SCRA Storm. The team got off to a slow start with just two goals in the first period scored by Pacie Harper and Kate Carrier. The team picked up the pace in the second period with two more goals by Pacie Harper and singles for Jaida Waldegger, Kate Carrier and Eva Chartrand. Despite a strong effort, it wasn’t quite enough and the Rage lost 8-7. 25
