Medicine Hat News Seven Persons sprinter Sage Watson finished sixth on the planet in the women’s 400-metre hurdles on Friday at the International Association of Athletics FederationsWorld Championship. The 23-year-old Hat High alumnus clocked in with a time of 54.92 seconds, 1.85 seconds behind champion Kori Carter, of the United States, 1.18 off the podium and 0.40 off her personal best of 54.52. Watson raced from Lane 8 —the second-most outside lane — and held second place for the majority of the event, but was overtaken in the final 100 metres. Carter took the gold medal with a time of 53.07 seconds, despite racing from Lane 9. Fellow American Dalilah Muhammad followed up for the silver in 53.50.
