Hellers win mixed doubles title

Medicine Hat News It was a long day at the Medicine Hat Tennis Club, but one that organizers set up intentionally to deal with the heat wave. Club general manager Ken Clement said prior to Saturday’s Summer Mixed Doubles tournament that nobody would be playing during the afternoon heat, leaving the playoff rounds for the evening after preliminary matches in the morning. A familiar team wound up winning. Tracy and Calvin Heller beat Xiaojiang Dai and Jin Shin 6-2, 6-2. The husband and wife duo have long been favourites in any tournament they enter. Sheila and Dave Reinheller took the consolation bracket win, 1-6, 6-4 and 6-2 over Kristen Norris and Brayden Miller. In the intermediate division, Reina and Jordan Schibler beat Brooke and Myles Pfeifer 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4. 7-6
