FLORUS BOUMAN

1934 ~ FLORUS BOUMAN ~ 2026 Florus Bouman was born in Holland in 1934. After the Second World War, he immigrated to Canada with his brothers, settling in Redcliff, Alberta, where he would spend the rest of his life. In Redcliff, Florus met Margaret. Together they built a home and raised two daughters. Florus worked as a carpenter in the construction industry for many years, a trade he approached with pride, skill, and a strong work ethic until his retirement. Florus was known for being generous, practical, and hardworking. His home reflected that care and attention from his backyard vegetable garden to the carefully tended flower garden filled with Dutch decorations; including a wooden windmill he built himself and a Dutch boy and girl statue in the front yard. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, played trumpet, and was a founding member of The German Harmony Band, which performed throughout the Medicine Hat area for many years. Hockey Night in Canada was a weekly fixture in his home. Florus was deeply rooted in his community and knew his neighbours well. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret and his daughter, Diana. Florus is survived by his daughter, Sara (Brian); two grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medicine Hat C.O.R.E. Association (https://coreassociation.ca/give-support/), 412 3rd Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 0H1.
