LAWRENCE HENDRICKSON

LAWRENCE HENDRICKSON
Lawrence Eugene Hendrickson, beloved husband of Lorraine Hendrickson of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the age of 90 years.
Lawrence was born on March 8, 1935, to Einar and Ruth Hendrickson in Cabri, Saskatchewan. He and his sisters were raised in Pennant, Kyle and Swift Current.
Lawrence began his life long career as a plumber when he was a young man working for the Co-op and Waterman and Waterbury in Swift Current.
While tobogganing with friends, he met Lorraine Carnrike who became his wife on January 14, 1956. January 14, 2026, would have been their 70th wedding anniversary!
They began their life in Swift Current, and in 1961, they adopted their daughter, Lori followed by a son, Todd in 1964. With their family complete, they made a decision to move west to the mountains of BC, settling in Summerland, where they lived until 1978. While in Summerland, he started his own plumbing business, Lawrence’s Plumbing, as well as working for NOCA Dairies, in Penticton, in the warehouse shipping and receiving.
Eventually Lawrence and Lorraine moved to Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Swift Current and eventually back to Medicine Hat where they resided until his passing.
Lawrence and Lorraine enjoyed travelling as well and enjoyed a trip to Hawaii for their 25th Anniversary and a trip across eastern Canada on Via Rail.
Lawrence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, dancing and spending time with his grandchildren whenever possible.
Lawrence, Gramps, is lovingly remembered and missed by his wife, Lorraine; his son, Todd Hendrickson and his daughter Lois; his daughter, Lori (Peter) Sereda; grandchildren, Nicholas (Kristie) and their children, Westin, Montgomery and Beau; Nathan (Naomi); Nolan (Caylee) and their daughter, Isabella; and Nevin (Charlee); Sisters, Eleanor Knight and Iona Vanbocquestal; brother-in-law, George (Winnie) Carnrike and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was predeceased by his parents, Einar and Ruth; his sister and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Omar Pedersen, Vivian and Lloyd Endicott, Larry Knight, Manny Vanbocquestal and Janice Hendrickson.
Everyone always said that mom and dad were the cutest couple and we will miss him and cherish all our many happy memories.
Many thanks to the staff at Meadowlands Retirement Home, Medicine Hat Hospital 4 West, St Joseph’s Hospice and Dr’s Kruger and Jani for their dedicated compassionate care that went above and beyond expected and we are forever grateful.
A private family service will take place at a later date in Swift Current. Lawrence will be laid to rest in the Swift Current Cemetery.
