BRAND, Bradley

BRADLEY NORMAN BRAND September 5, 1972 – November 21, 2025 Bradley Norman Brand, 53, passed away suddenly on November 21, 2025. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Brad built a life rooted in hard work, meaningful connections, and a wonderful sense of humor. Anyone who knew him would say he was the best chef around – whether it was BBQ, smoking, baking, or anything in between, he could make it. He especially loved hosting gatherings surrounded by family and friends. He took great pride in keeping his yard beautifully maintained and had a deep love of travel and sports, especially the Edmonton Oilers, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Toronto Blue Jays.
He was proudly employed with Federated Co-op in Saskatoon, where he truly found his dream job. Brad cherished the people he worked with, and he was known throughout the workplace as both a trusted mentor and the go-to jokester. His one-liners, quick smile, and steady support made a lasting impact on countless colleagues and friends.
Brad is survived by his loving wife, Shauna Brand of 29 years, and his daughters, Raeanna Brand (27) and Taylor Brand (25) of Martensville, SK. He is also survived by his parents, Harold and Donna Brand of Saskatoon, SK, and his sister, Carrie Campagna of BC; mother-in-law Marilyn Braun of Swift Current, SK, brother-in-law Tim (Sharon) Braun of Saskatoon, SK., brother-in-law Trevor (Erin) Braun of Swift Current, SK., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Brad’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A small, private celebration of life with immediate family and friends will be held later in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Brad’s memory.
Cherished Memories is honoured to be entrusted with Mr. Bradley Brand’s care and arrangements.

BILL WALLIS

BILL WALLIS August 7, 1952 ~ June 14, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William ‘Bill’ Joseph Ross Wallis at the Good Samaritan Society in Medicine Hat on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 72 years. Along with Lynda, his wife of 45 years, Bill leaves to mourn his passing: two sons, Ross and Chris as well as his precious grandson, Joseph. He will also be remembered by his three siblings, Doug (Sharon), Karen (Fred†) and Bev (Dan); two favourite cousins, Jackie (Brian) Burrell and Joanne Wallis; goddaughter, Colleen; best friends, Al, Rod and Randy and of course his fur baby, Bojangles.
Bill was born in Eatonia, Saskatchewan on August 7, 1952, to Bill and Elsie Wallis. He graduated from Eatonia High School and went to Olds Agricultural College where he studied Farm Machinery Mechanics. Bill made many friends during his years at Olds College, many of which he maintained contact with through the years. He was a farmer for most of his life and moved his family to Dunmore in 2002. Bill became part of a pool team which he enjoyed very much and also maintained friendships with some of his pool mates until his passing.
Besides playing pool, Bill enjoyed watching and discussing politics, growing koi fish and of course, landscaping. His backyard in Dunmore was a testament to his ability to grow anything anywhere.
Once Bill’s health declined, he accepted the fact that he needed more help. With the aid of Alberta Health Services, Home Care and Extended Family Services he was able to stay in his home until October 2024, at which time he was admitted to GSS. A group of angels looked after him and brought much joy and activity to his home. A special thank you to everyone who looked after Bill, including Tessa, Maria, Michael, Kim, Julie, Jess, Jessica, Tammy, Rachael, Aimee and Andrea. Thank you also to Linda (hairdresser), Pam and Brenda (foot care) and our neighbours, Glenda and Darryl Beirback. Their family became our family; bringing meals, invited us over for holidays, meals and coffee, watched the house, helped with yard work, did errands and provided unconditional moral support and understanding. A special thank you to Dr. Jeraj for looking after Bill and keeping him so comfortable in his last days.
Although he suffered greatly from his Parkinson’s disease and other comorbidities, Bill never complained and never lost his sense of humour.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. Ernie was predeceased by his loving wife of 73 years, Irma Nickel; and his siblings, David Nickel, John Nickel, Kathy Rempel, and Margaret Nickel. Ernie was born to J.D. and Sara Nickel on July 9, 1927, in Beaverlodge, Alberta. He loved hunting and trapping to help support his family’s homestead. As a teenager he moved with his family to Rosemary, Alberta, and in 1948, he married Irma Janzen. Soon after, they moved to Calgary to raise and expand their growing family. Ernie began his career in the construction trade and later when they moved to Medicine Hat he continued to work in construction. In the mid 1950’s, Ernie and Irma acquired property in the Seven Persons area, where they homesteaded and helped build a growing community with the building of a school and a church. After Ernie and Irma sold the farm in 1995, they moved to Medicine Hat. Ernie continued his passion for farming by joining Alberta Hail and Crop Insurance as an agent. He loved driving. In his 70’s he still loved to drive the motor home to Palm Springs. Ernie and Irma also enjoyed tours to Nashville and their vacation to Hawaii was another favourite memory for them. As Ernie got older, drives out to the old farm community became highlights of his week; there he would visit friends and neighbours from days gone by and watch the combines in the fall. He continued this tradition until he broke his hip in late 2024. During his year in care, he loved to watch the construction work on the new development of the care facility. He was hopeful that he would not need to move rooms within the care facility again. Ernie is now home, fully in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His traveling days are done. Rest in Peace Dad. For those wishing to pay their respects, a public visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel,1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. JOHNSON

WENDY ELIZABETH JOHNSON (NÉE WHEELOCK)
Wendy Elizabeth Johnson (née Wheelock) passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on December 2, 2025, at the age of 76 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Wendy is survived by her two children, Mathew Johnson (Laura) and Clara Kennedy (Lee), as well as her beloved grandchildren Gregory, Sadi, Logan, Ella Quinn and Kaia. She is also survived by her siblings Brian Wheelock (Anne) and Anne Vickery (Kevin) and a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, their families, and her many close friends. Wendy was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Elizabeth Wheelock. Born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Wendy loved the ocean and the Maritimes all her life. She went to school at Acadia University and Boston College, where she earned a Masters in Deaf Blind Education. Wendy spent her career working with adults and children with various special needs. After working as a teacher in Toronto, Ontario, she moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, to work for the City of Medicine Hat as Special Children’s Consultant, working with preschool children and, in particular, hearing-impaired children. She next joined the Medicine Hat College to create and coordinate their Intervenor for Deaf Blind Persons program. Wendy subsequently became the Director of Special Education for Southview Kiddie Kampus in Medicine Hat, where she evaluated and assessed the intervention requirements of children with special needs, secured funding, and coordinated the provision of those services. At the end of her career, she was the Regional Autism Coordinator for the Core Association, where she advocated for children with autism and their families throughout Southern Alberta in order to get diagnoses, supports and funding. Although her work had a significant impact on her community, Wendy never sought recognition or praise. She did it because she cared and wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. She was relentless in advocating and fighting for her clients. She never stopped pushing for better funding and better programs. In doing so, she helped many families throughout Medicine Hat and across Southern Alberta. Wendy lived life to the fullest, got into trouble with friends and made everyone around her more comfortable. She loved swimming, golf and tennis, jazz and other live music, and a good glass of wine. She was exuberant, full of joy, and the best kind of weird. She danced and sang when she sunk a putt and her loved ones understood what it meant when she started using sign language after a glass of wine or two. She loved to travel, whether to Italy with friends, or to Nova Scotia with her family. Mat and Clara still remember living for a year in England with their parents and appreciate all of the doors she opened and opportunities she made possible through her support. Most importantly, Wendy was a loving mother and grandmother and would do anything for her family and friends. Her love, generosity and support were unconditional, especially for her five grandchildren whom she adored more than anything. She was a best friend and constant support for her children and was always there when needed. Wendy’s legacy lives on in all of the lives she has shaped and inspired. Wendy’s family is forever grateful to the staff on unit 111 at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, and especially to the staff of 4 west and 2 north at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for their care, compassion and professionalism over the past few months. The memorial service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant, Pat Grisonich officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The memorial service and the interment will be live streamed. Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit Wendy’s obituary page on our website for the links. Following the interment you are invited to join the family for a reception in Wendy’s honour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CKUA, CNIB, or Autism Canada in Wendy’s memory. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
