JACK RESCH

JACK RESCH December 13, 1932 – October 5, 2025
It is with a broken heart that Betty announces the passing of her loving husband of 72 years, Jacob ‘Jack’ Resch. He passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with family by his side on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 92 years.
Along with Betty, left to honour Jack’s memory are his three children: Mark and his family, Danika (Mike) Farion, Devony, Dalton (Kourtni) (son, Braxtyn) and Donera; Belinda and her family, Matti (Matt) Repnack, Samuel (Allie) Brosinsky and Joel (Dale) Brosinsky; Jacqueline (Wes) Yanke and her family, Jody (Vince) Traynor, Cody (Penny) Hogg (son, Chance) and TJ (Angela) Hogg (children, Peyton and Jake); Folten’s son, Kyle (Jenny) (children, Lily and Folten) as well as his sisters, Jean and Patsy. He was predeceased by his sons, Folten and Mike as well as his siblings.
Jack was born into a family of 12 children, a son to Jacob and Philomina Resch. He met Betty at a dance in Elkwater in 1950, where he asked her for a dance and she instantly fell in love. They lived in a cabin for a period of time while dating and working at the Yeast Ranch. In December 1952, they were married and moved to Tot Hill. Jack started working for Fondrick’s making hay and taking care of cows. While living at Tot Hill, they had their first two children, Jacqueline and Folten. Their house became too crowded so they decided to move to the Flaig place where they had their own quarter of land for cattle and farming. Their next three children, Michael, Belinda and Mark were born while they lived at the the Flaig place. They continued to work both on their own land and the Fondrick’s. After selling the Flaig place, they had enough money to buy a ranch near Irvine with land to farm and space to move their cattle. After ranching in Irvine for 20 years, Jack and Mark purchased a farm near Seven Persons with irrigated land and space for cattle where Mark and Dalton continue farming to this day, ensuring Jack’s legacy for his love of the land lives on.
A private family time of remembrance will be held. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at http://www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is

LEONARD EMIL LUTZ

LEONARD EMIL LUTZ June 20, 1950 – October 2, 2025
We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of our dad Leonard on October 2nd in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
Dad was the 2nd eldest child to Emil and Katie Lutz. He grew up on the family farm near Seven Persons with his three
sisters Marilyn, Caroline and Brenda. All of whom he was sadly predeceased by. His loved his sisters dearly.
Dad’s interests included fast cars, golf, baseball, travel, Tim Hortons, Harley Davidson, knives, tools and of course
ratchet straps. He was a collector of anything and everything that caught his eye and looked useful. He was very crafty
and had a very successful etching business in the 80’s. A lot of people probably still have mirrors and clocks with Dads
work. In recent times he was obsessed with paracord and made many bracelets. Fridays were coffee day with his gang the
three Glassketeeers!
He was a glassman “Glazier” by trade, working at Capital Glass, Speedy Glass and then his own business as Leonard’s Mobile Glass.
Dad knew and met so many people! He was a social butterfly for sure!
Dad married his first wife Jean Stiff and they had two children Tracy and Brad who were both able to be with him during his last days.
We will miss him very much.
In the last 36 years Dad and his “sweethang” Darlene, have moved to Nanaimo, they have travelled extensively in Canada, the
USA, golfing in Mexico and cruised to Alaska and the Caribbean. They came home every year to visit family and friends. A highlight
of one of their trips was to Toronto to get their “toonie dog” and cheer on the Blue Jays.
In Nanaimo he worked for Budget Glass where he made more life long friends. After taking a construction course to learn
B.C. regulations, he again started his own business “Kodiak Windows and Screens”. He loved doing the retractable screens
until his retirement about four years ago.
He will be greatly missed by Darlene, his daughter Tracy Haupt(Steve), son Brad Lutz(Michelle). His step daughter Marci
Delisle(Doug), stepson Scott Rathwell(Kathy). Grandchildren Paige Haupt(Jayson), Cody Haupt(Zahra), Jamie Fox, Tanner
Fox(Karli&Alice), Owen Lutz, Kassidy Sagrafena(Tanner), Ty Delisle(Emma) and one great grandson Mac Sagrafena. All of who
referred to him as “Opa”.
As well as family and friends he kept in touch with on facebook, his main source of entertainment these last years. He left
a lasting impression on everyone and many say he was “best friend you could have”.
There will be a celebration of life in Nanaimo in November and then another in Medicine Hat in June of 2026.

BETTY BOSCHEE

BETTY BOSCHEE 1945-2025
With heavy hearts the family of Betty Jane Boschee of Medicine Hat, formally of Foremost, beloved wife of late Melbourne “Mel” Boschee, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, with her family by her side, at the age of 80 years old.
Betty was born on September 24, 1945, and raised in Irvine. In school, Betty loved playing ball with the boys and enjoyed all school sports. She even received a trophy for the Queen of track and field.
On August 21, 1964, Betty married the love of her life Mel and they started their life in Elkwater on the Boschee Family Farm. In 1967, they purchased land in Foremost, moving to the village of Foremost permanently in 1974.
Betty actively worked beside Mel on the farm for many years before taking on a second job as a secretary at the Alberta Wheat Pool, where she worked until her retirement in the spring of 2002.
After Mel’s passing in June 2002, Betty remained at the family home in Foremost. She always had the best, perfectly manicured lawn and her flowers were always the fullest and brightest.
In the fall of 2021, Betty moved to Medicine Hat and was able to reconnect with her sisters, brother and their families. She enjoyed brunches, suppers, chuckwagons, rodeo and whatever other adventure they would take her on. She was always game for it.
She took great pride watching her kids and grandkids, spending time at the rink watching figure skating, hockey, ringette, in gymnasiums or at dance recitals. She was always cheering loud and proud. There wasn’t a person that didn’t know who Gramma Betty belonged to.
Betty would visit her kids and grandkids, often never showing up empty handed. She always arrived with a car full of cookies, cake, buns or whatever else she figured we needed or if she wanted to try something new. When any of us visited, we always got our favourite meal and dessert, and there was always leftovers to take home.
Betty always said her greatest accomplishment was her family and she was extremely proud of each one of them. We love you and will miss you mom/gramma.
Betty is survived by her two children, Brian (Lynette) Boschee of Foremost and Melanie (Peter) Boschee of Strathmore; her special grandchildren, Samantha (Jonathan) Boschee, Houston (Rayna) Boschee and Cayley (Matt) MacEachern; her most loved great grandchildren, Dylynn, Easton, Jordyn, Tate and one more on the way; her four sisters, Shirley (Elmer) Hagel, Olivia (Bill) Lucas, Judy (Ed) Stock and Joan (Gordon) Collard; her brother, James (Janet) Zeller; her sister-in-law, Donna Jacober as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Melbourne “Mel” Boschee; her parents, Art and Racheal Zeller; her in-laws, Wallace and Alice Boschee, and her brother, Kenneth Zeller.
A private family service will take place at the Foremost Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty’s honour to HALO c/o HALO Air Ambulance (#12 – Airport Drive SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 5G4), or a charity of your choice. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
