VICTORIA TOMASZEWSKI
1952 -VICTORIA TOMASZEWSKI – 2025
It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Victoria (Vicky) Mary Tomaszewski on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, at the age of 73 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Richard Tomaszewski. She is survived by her daughters, Annalisa (Jeremy) Tomaszewski, Theresa (Kelly) Lerner and Stephanie (Jeremiah) Lehr. Left to cherish her memory are her five grandsons, Ashton and Tyson Lerner, Ethan, Brody and Levi Lehr and her siblings, Ed (Sharon) Mastel, Ben (Theresa) Mastel, Leo (Jackie) Mastel, Allan (Brenda) Mastel, Rose Ann (Darren) Rud and their families. Mom also leaves her sister-in-law, Zenia (Joe) Malinski and her family and brother-in-law, Marion Tukiendorf, all of Chicago, Ill. Aside from her husband, Mom was predeceased by her parents, Egnotz and Lagatha Mastel; in-laws, Roman and Anna Tomaszewski; and nieces, Addison Mastel and Lisa Riznyk. Mom was born April 30th, 1952, in Medicine Hat and grew up on the family farm in Conquerville, Alberta. After graduation she moved to Medicine Hat where she met Dad, and they were married in 1972. Mom and Dad moved to LA for a brief time, returned to Medicine Hat and then Redcliff where they started their family. In 1993, they moved back to Medicine Hat where they continued to make many memories together until their individual passings. Following a fall in November ’24, Mom moved to Good Sam’s where she resided until undergoing surgery in July, which, she was unable to recover from and was moved to St Joseph’s Home where she passed away with her daughters by her side. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who cared for Mom over the past year at the Medicine Hat Hospital and Good Sam’s. We are especially grateful to all the compassionate staff at St Joseph’s who made Mom’s final three weeks as comfortable and peaceful as possible. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 am with Fr. Fernando Genogaling, Celebrant. The Eulogy and slideshow presentation will precede the Mass. RON PFENGSTGREFF
RON PFENGSTGREFF 1942 ~ 2025 Ronald “Ron” Edgar Pfengstgreff passed away on September 14, 2025, at the age of 83 years. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Mabel, and sister, Louise (Carl) Bergerud. He was predeceased by his mother, Emilia Pfengstgreff. In his younger years, Ron often fished and hunted which he got great enjoyment from. Both Ron and his wife, Mabel, shared a love of nature and enjoyed taking long walks together. Ron also loved travelling, and he often got very excited about the next place he and Mabel were going to visit. They travelled extensively throughout the continental United States as well as Hawaii, Cancun, and Acapulco where he caught a 9 1/2 foot sailfish that he proudly hung in their living room. Throughout his life, Ron had many pets that he loved to no end, they brought him great joy and happiness. Ron will be remembered as the type of guy that you could depend on if you needed anything, he was always willing to help. DARBY GAGNON Oct. 13, 1965 ~ Sept. 26, 2025 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darby Gagnon, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, who passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, surrounded by family.
Darby will be deeply missed by his wife, Laurie; son, Tyler (Sophie); daughter, Teneal (Jackson); sister, Carmen along with many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Ella Gagnon and his in-laws, Jerry and Mary Hager.
Born and raised in Medicine Hat, Darby was a devoted family man and friend. He loved golfing, biking, cooking, walking his dog Cargo, and cheering on the Edmonton Oilers. Above all, his greatest joy was time spent with Laurie, Tyler, and Teneal.
Vigil Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 13 Street SW, Medicine Hat on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Rd S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. with Father Fernando Genogaling celebrant. Ming (Shi Man) Wong of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at the age of 73 years. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 40 years, Sheila; his daughter Breanna and son, Matthew (Sydney) Wong; siblings, Betty Wong, Ken (Lindy) Wong, Oi (Waldy) Batsel and Sai (Darcee) Wong; sister & brother-in-law, Carol (Tim) McDermid. Nieces and nephews, Nathan (Alli) Beck, Nicole (Austin) Coburn, Jessica Wong (Chris Tully), Mikaela Wong (Austin Dulle), Dillon Batsel (Sierra Zukowski), Jason Batsel (Casey Lawrence), Celina Batsel (Teagan Wishart), Jordon (Randal) Wong and their son Colter, Kaitlin (Dallas) Smith, Alexander McDermid (Kelly Hu), Cameron (Kassi) McDermid; first cousins, Vince (Joan) Wong, Lawton (Robin) Wong and Rita (Ed) Pon. Ming was predeceased by his parents, Kai Yin and Sui Lung Wong, cousin, Grant Wong, in-laws, Keith (Rita) Graves & brother-in-law, Eric Graves.
Ming was born Nov 24, 1951, in Kowloon, Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada when he was 19 years old, sponsored by his Uncle Hon. In the early 80’s he owned and operated Ming’s Mayfair and then was the Meat Manager at Foodland IGA for over 35 years. Ming had many hobbies that kept him active including fishing, golfing, cooking, wine making and camping. He even started downhill skiing in his late 40s. Travelling the world with family and friends was a passion he shared with Sheila. Most of all he enjoyed preparing large feasts (usually his infamous Prime Rib roast) for family gatherings around the holidays or special events.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Victory Lutheran Church, on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 1:00 pm 1:50 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Roland Weisbrot officiating. If unable to attend, family and friends are welcome to participate via livestream by logging on to victorylutheran.ca/livestream/ and joining the live webcast on the above date and time. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
