JOYCE CONDON

1924 ~ JOYCE CONDON ~ 2025
Joyce Condon, beloved wife of the late Peter Condon, passed away on September 14, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101 years. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Richard (Judy) Condon of Westerose, AB, and David (Janice) Condon of Medicine Hat, AB; grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Condon of Sooke, BC, Scott (Emilie) Condon of Calgary, AB, and Rachel Condon of Medicine Hat, AB; great-grandson, August; and daughter-in-law, Karen Konigsthal of Toronto, ON. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Peter; son, Andrew; parents, Rowland and Laura Appleyard; brother, Eric Appleyard; as well as two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law in England. Joyce was born on August 1, 1924, to parents, Rowland and Laura Appleyard in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. As a child she moved with her family and grew up in Poole, Dorset, England. Before World War II, Joyce attended Parkstone Girls’ Grammar School. After completing her secondary education, Joyce proudly served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service from 1943 to 1946 as a Petty Officer Radio Mechanic in Britian and Australia. Following her military service, Joyce attended Bognor Regis Teachers’ Training College where she found her calling in educating young minds. She married the love of her life, Peter George Condon on August 13, 1949, and they immigrated to Medicine Hat together in 1956. They joined the Fifth Avenue United Church congregation in 1957, and Joyce also joined the Senior Choir and the Women’s Missionary Society. Her passion for her church showed through her becoming a charter member of United Church Women in 1962 as well as singing in the church choir for 50 years. Music, in many forms, was always a great part of her life wherever she has been, particularly choral music. She even took part in massed choirs in England and was a Charter Member of the Adele Armstrong Singers for 27 years. Joyce was so proud that her sons also have a passion for music. A stay at home mom to her three boys until they were well into school, she returned to teaching for SD #76 on a half-time contract. She greatly enjoyed her years with the children and staff, who she kept close bonds with. Ever involved in her community, Joyce held a lifetime membership with the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Auxiliary Association as well as being a member of the Ex-Service Women’s group in Medicine Hat. In retirement, Peter and Joyce were able to travel to many different countries experiencing new cultures as well as meeting and mingling with locals at every opportunity. Joyce was blessed to live a long, full life with her beloved and loving family. The Memorial Service will be held at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, 476 4 St SE, Medicine Hat, AB, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1:30 pm with Rev. David Pollard officiating. RAY GOYER March 1, 1936 ~ September 14, 2025
Remi Edgar ‘Ray’ Goyer, beloved husband of the late Margaret Goyer (nee Comeau), passed away in Medicine Hat on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the age of 89 years. Ray leaves to cherish his memory six children and their families: Rosemarie ‘Ree’ (Will) Sheward and her son, Richard (Krista) and their daughter, Phoenyx; Joanne ‘Josie’ (Dale) Proctor and her three children, Jennifer Bolds and her children, Dylan, Colton and Callie; Melissa (Ian) Collins and their family, Keegan, Luka, Ben and Casey; KayLeigh (Steve) Nikoleychuk and her daughter, Addison; Rene ‘Jim’ Goyer and his four children, Matthew, Kirsten, Willow and Olivia; Teresa (Abe) Wiebe and their two children, James (Kim) Wiebe and his daughter Leah and Christopher Wiebe; Rémi ‘Ed’ Goyer and his two daughters, Sarah (Zack) Mosher and Katelyn (Cole) Dobish and their children, Wyatt and Eli; Donna (Brian) Franz and their two children, Dakoda and Izahbella. Along with his parents, René and Sylvia Goyer, Ray was predeceased by two brothers, Euclid and Leonard; two sisters, Sylvan and Bernice as well as numerous other extended family. Ray was born on the family farm near Zenon Park, SK. He was a Steamfitter at Methanex until he retired in 1994. Ray married the love of his life, Margaret Comeau, on January 29, 1955. Together they enjoyed 68 years together until her passing in 2013. Ray kept busy with his hobbies and especially enjoyed creating things with stained glass and collecting semi-precious stones. He was a competitive card player, especially when it came to Canasta, Poker and Cribbage. He was never one to turn down a cold beer and always had a good joke to share. Dignified cremation has taken place. A Celebration honouring Ray’s life will be held in 2026 with further announcements closer to the date of the celebration. EVELYN TESSMAN 1944 ~ 2025 Evelyn Elaine Tessman, beloved wife of the late Reinhard Tessman, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the age of 81 years. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Richard Osborn, Kevin (Jonna) Osborn, and Kimberly Osborn; three grandchildren, Damara (Chris), Darryl (Dana), and Kennedy; four great grandchildren, Autumn, Maryann, Rhenn, and Rhayn; one brother; Bill Hardy and one sister Sherilyn (Dave) Hoover. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Osborn, her parents Robert and Edith Hardy, and her sister Marilyn Douet. Evelyn was born in Victoria, British Columbia on August 22, 1944, to Robert and Edith Hardy. She was a long time member of the Redcliff Legion and enjoyed taking part in the activities and social events. Evelyn loved to listen to Elvis Presley, she collected dolls and loved baseball. She kept books of statistics on teams and players. Evelyn enjoyed knitting and she made some outstanding clothing. STEPHEN MCELROY

STEPHEN MCELROY 1937 ~ 2025 Stephen Joseph McElroy of Medicine Hat, husband of the late Yvette McElroy, passed away after a courageous battle on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the age of 88 years. He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Suzan McElroy and Sandra McElroy, his grandchildren, and his great grandson. Stephen was born in Toronto, Ontario on May 11, 1937. He enjoyed a long career in the Air Force and was a member of the Legion. Stephen found pleasure in his TV shows, a good meal, a cold glass of red wine, and playing cards with family and friends.
