DAMIANO DALLA LONGA
1936 – DAMIANO DALLA LONGA – 2025 It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and Nonno, Damiano Dalla Longa, who passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025 at the age of 88 years. He would have celebrated his 89th birthday on August 29, just 10 days later. Damiano was predeceased by his wife, Silvana Dalla Longa; parents, Olivo and Caterina Dalla Longa; brothers, Reno, Gianni, Gervasio, as well as his sister, Anna Maria. His brother, Giuseppe continues to live in Medicine Hat and brothers, Luigi, Francesco, Franco and Valeriano live in Italy along with his sister, Marta and their families.
Born in San Vito di Valdobbiadene, Damiano immigrated to Canada in 1960 with determination and hope for a better future. In 1961, he was joined by the love of his life, Silvana, and together they built a life grounded in love, resilience, and hard work.
As a young man in Italy, he first learned the craft of furniture making, developing the skill and creativity that would shape much of his life. When he came to Canada, he worked as a skilled bricklayer, pouring his heart and craftsmanship into countless buildings and creative projects throughout the city and into Saskatchewan. Always handy and creative, he built beautiful cabinets and created stunning outdoor brick living spaces, where family and friends gathered to enjoy the warmth of a fire throughout many seasons. His artistry lives on in every piece he touched, and he enjoyed helping his children repair their homes, begin a new building project and brick their living spaces. He was always eager to lend his time and craftsmanship to those he loved.
Beyond his work, his greatest pride was his family. Together with Silvana, they raised two daughters, Anna and Rosa, and later welcomed sons-in-law, Tim Schottner and Tracy Zubrecki into the family. Their joy grew with the arrival of their three grandchildren Zachary, Mikala, and Francesca who became the absolute light of his life. He was extremely proud of them, never missing a ball game, soccer match, or hockey game, always cheering proudly from the stands. His love and encouragement shaped their lives, just as it had with his daughters. In time, that pride grew even more as the family expanded, and he happily welcomed Stephanie (Zachary), Randon (Mikala), and Braden (Francesca), embracing each of them with the same warmth and love.
Losing Silvana ten years ago was the hardest moment of his life, but he faced it with courage, determination, and purpose. Though deeply missing the love of his life, he chose to live fully, cherishing every moment with his family and continuing to make the best of each day.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life – baking homemade bread and proudly sharing it with everyone, making wine and passing his craft on to his son-in-law, tending his massive garden, and sharing the bounty with neighbors. Just last year, he grew thirteen zucchini plants, ensuring that no one nearby went without fresh vegetables. The absence of a garden this year weighed on him deeply, a reflection of how much joy it had always brought him.
Damiano will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, his generosity and kindness, his joy for life, and most of all, his unwavering love for his family. His memory and legacy live on in the many lives he touched and the traditions he passed down.
Born in Italy, with roots so deep, Memories cherished, ours to keep. A bricklayer’s hands, both strong and kind, A gardener’s heart, with peace of mind. Family was always your greatest pride, With Silvana once more at your side. Together again, in Heaven’s embrace, Love everlasting, time can’t erase. Your work, your love, your gentle way, Live on in us each passing day. JUNE JUDKINS
JUNE JUDKINS 1924 ~ 2025
The family of Theresa June Judkins is deeply saddened to announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother at the remarkable age of 101. Mom passed peacefully with family by her side on August 21, 2025, after a brief stay at St. Joseph’s Home. She leaves to mourn three daughters: Myrna, Rita, and Terri (John); two sons: Bryan (Linda) and Wayne; daughter-in-law, Judy; eight grandchildren, (Marlo (Clayton), Jason, Shayne (Fritzi), Jeremy, Lindsay (Phil), Chris (Katie), Sara, (Valerio) and Jameson), and fifteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Neil; her son, Timothy; her daughter, Connie; sons-in-law, Albert and Gil, as well as her parents, John and Catherine (Breen) Kimmitt, all nine siblings and their spouses; all of her cousins, and several nieces and nephews.
June led a long, interesting, and impactful life. Together, she and Neil raised their family at the Canadian Western Natural Gas Camp just outside of Bow Island and later moved into town in 1974. Prior to getting married, June attended business college in Lethbridge and worked as a medical receptionist in her younger years and again in Bow Island once her children had grown. She loved to travel and was fortunate and adventurous enough to travel throughout the U.S., including Hawaii, Great Britain, Mexico, the Bahamas, Panama, the Philippines, and two pilgrimages to Yugoslavia to honour our Blessed Lady. June had a generous and courageous heart and was known to often step in and simply do the right thing to correct injustice and help those in need. Because of her great compassion, we often referred to her as “Mother Theresa.” Church was always important to Mom. She was active in the CWL and an honorary member until her passing. As one of ten children, she grew up knowing the importance of family and faith, values that carried her throughout her life and shaped the legacy she leaves behind. With our wonderful father Neil by her side, they raised a family of seven children, teaching us lessons of love, forgiveness, acceptance, and selflessness. She treasured the togetherness of family so deeply that reunions became traditions, drawing more than 200 relatives together every two years to celebrate the bonds that meant so much to them all. But what truly made Mom unforgettable was who she was. She had a quick wit and a twinkle in her eye that hinted at the mischief she loved to instigate. She had the gift of humor and storytelling, able to captivate an audience with ease and bring smiles to those around her. Her sense of style, her radiant smile, her positivity, and her boundless empathy made her a woman people loved instantly and remembered always. Mom lived every moment with love, laughter, and grace. She gave endlessly of herself, cared deeply for others, and inspired all of us to live life with joy and faith. Though she will be dearly missed, her spirit continues to live on in her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.The family would like to extend a note of great appreciation to Mom’s caregivers throughout the recent years: Bow Island Medical, EMS, and Homecare Staff; Coulee Family Services, and St. Joseph’s Home Carmel Hospice.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so beginning one hour prior to Vigil Prayers which will be recited at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Fernando Genogaling celebrant.
