ALLEN ROY DEERING

ALLEN ROY DEERING Sunrise December 1, 1934 Sunset July 19, 2025 It is hard to say goodbye to someone you love.
Dad passed away in the afternoon on Saturday, July 19, 2025, surrounded by his son Darcy and his wife Linda, at the age of 90.5 years, at the Carmel Hospice at St. Joseph’s Covenant Care facility. He especially enjoyed outings at the Veiner Centre, where he made many friends, travelling, especially to Las Vegas, and most recently to Alaska with his son Darcy and granddaughter Stephanie. Allen loved spending time joking with family and friends. He worked for 29 years at Dominion Glass and retired 45 years ago; his other jobs included farming and carpentry. He made friends easily in the past years.
He took up yodelling and was known around town, and as far as he was concerned, famous all over the world and internet. He will be greatly missed by his closest family members, Darcy & Linda, and their family; Chris(Shannon), Josh(Gwyn), Stephanie & Chris(Tamara) and all of their children. He also leaves in passing his sons, Monty(Karen) & Dennis and their families. Allen had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will miss him.
He is survived by his Sisters, Emma, Laurina, Lily(Wynn) & Peggy. He was predeceased by his son Gerald, parents Erna & Henry, and by his brother Edwin, the jokester. He will also be missed by his friends at St Joseph’s, where he spent the last 2 years living.
A Celebration of Life will be held at River Valley Community Church, 1101 Queen St SE, on Friday, Aug 15th at 1 pm. Dad was not a suit-and-tie guy; please come dressed casually. BAILEY MAURICE COTE It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bailey Maurice Cote, age 26, of Abbotsford, B.C., on August 3, 2025.
Born on November 19, 1998, in Mission, B.C., Bailey was the cherished son of Carey and Katherine Cote.
Bailey attended Yale Senior Secondary School and was known for his vibrant spirit, warm smile, and gregarious personality. He had a deep love for his son and his pets, and found joy in music, movies, fitness, and spending time with his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Katherine and Carey Cote; his sibling, Jules Cote; his beloved son, Wyatt; his grandparents, Loralee Dueck, Donnaline Cote, Rod Dueck, and Lynne O’Donnell; as well as his many aunts, uncles, and cousins: Rod (Chrissy), Jeff (Hiromi), Randy, Rosalie (Stephen), Michele, Craig (Angela), Maureen (Diego), Genna (Travis), Cole, Josh, Ethan, Momoka, Savannah, Austin, Colby, Chase, Ashley, Bradley, Levi, Julian, Aurora, and Gabriel all of whom will deeply miss his presence and zest for life.
Bailey was predeceased by his beloved Aunt Melanie Regier, his grandfather Maurice Cote, great-grandmother Henrietta Hellyer, and great-grandparents Arnold and Winnie Koeller.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Memorial United Church, 33737 George Ferguson Way, Abbotsford. Interment will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery, with a reception to be held back at the church.

1932 ITALO PISONI – 2025
It is with great sadness and loving memories that we announce the peaceful passing of ltalo Pisoni on August 8, 2025 at the age of 92 years. Italo was born November 10, 1932, in Castel Madruzzo, Italy and was one of four children to Giacamo & Ersilia. Italo is survived by his beloved wife, Rose, of 68 years; children, Sheila (Grant), Dean (Judy), Darrell (Lisa) and Don (Denise); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Piera DalMolin of Calgary; sisters-in-law, Maria Rosa Pisoni and Julie Schafer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Luciano; sister, Corona; sisters-in-law, Emily Anhelher and Kathleen Volk; brothers-in law, John Anhelher, Peter Schafer and Leo Volk; as well as Rose’s parents, Tony and Elizabeth Volk.
At 19 years of age, ltalo came to Canada to join his cousins and aunt and uncle in search of a better life filled with hope and opportunity. In his early years, he worked a variety of jobs including a ranch hand, Alberta Clay Products, IXL Industries, Maple Leaf Mills, Knight-Schmidt Industries and as a roofer for Plato’s.
He discovered his true passion in wood working and became a self-taught carpenter and worked as a finishing carpenter for many years until his retirement. He was always busy tinkering in his garage or enjoying his hobbies which were many; fishing, hunting, wine and sausage making, playing cards, camping, gardening, and fixing almost anything. The gardens he tended with Rose were the envy of the neighborhood – always producing more than enough to share with family and friends. He was an enthusiastic and hard worker who never turned down a request to help with friends or family. In his eighties he still loved working in the yard and could often be seen shoveling snow, cutting grass and even hanging Christmas lights. He was never intimidated by any task that he could do himself.
He and Rose shared many adventures together such as camping in the mountains, trips to Phoenix, tours to Branson and theater events across Alberta.
ltalo was a devoted catholic and volunteered as an usher for his church and was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. He also volunteered at Prairie Gleaners and the Salvation Army feeding those in need. He was incredibly outgoing, always ready with a warm smile and conversation for anyone he met, especially on the walking trails he and Rose frequented daily.
Above all, ltalo was an exceptional husband, father and grandfather and his family meant the world to him. He was thrilled to have all his grandchildren living in the same city and rarely missed an opportunity to attend their sports, events or activities they were involved in.
In 2021, he and Rose moved to a senior residence where they enjoyed a fresh chapter of life reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. Ever active, ltalo eagerly participated in the many activities and exercise room that were available. ltalo leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, generosity and dedication to family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Vigil Rites (Prayers) will follow at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm. 1948 – ANDREW KLUG – 2025 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Andrew William Klug, who departed this world on August 3, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on June 8, 1948, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Andrew was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose life was marked by hard work, dedication, and a love for the land. Andrew was the cherished son of William and Esther Klug, who predeceased him. Andrew dedicated most of his life to farming in the Walsh and Medicine Hat areas, where he earned a reputation for his strong work ethic and commitment to the agricultural community. Andrew is survived by his brother, Philip Klug; sisters, Jeanette Toews, Christine Shaw, Marlene Koch, Barbara Debler, and Valerie Lerner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Andrew Klug’s life was a testament to the values of hard work and respect for nature. His spirit will live on in the memories of those he loved and who loved him. CATHY VAN DER HEIDEN February 26, 1934 ~ August 6, 2025
Catherina van der Heiden passed away peacefully at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the age of 91 years. Cathy is lovingly remembered by her children: John (Carmen), Leroy (Kerrie Gauthier), Rita (Doug) Scott, Everett (Maryann), Evelyn (Joseph Seitz), and Michael (Nancy). She is also cherished by her grandchildren: Tyler (Rachel Kruger), Jacqueline (Mitchell Kurtz), Cory (Kyra), Daniel, Sara (Jesse) Andreas, Samantha Scott (Emelia Sandau), Thomas and Aidan Seitz, and Dylan, Madison, and Mackenzie (Fiw Chakhim). Cathy is also survived by great-grandchildren, Jordan and Rhett van der Heiden, Cole, Carter and Jace Andreas.
She will also be missed by her siblings: Piet (Dora), Annie, Jose, Franz (Els), Andre (Annie), Rikkie (Antoon), as well as her sisters-in-law, Mary, Miep and Tine as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cathy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Everett and grandsons, Mitchell Scott and Cole van der Heiden.
Born in Heesch, Netherlands, Cathy was the second of eleven children, the oldest daughter of Leonardo and Hendrika van den Akker. She worked alongside her father as a tailor from the age of fourteen until she was twenty-four. In 1958, Cathy accepted an invitation to work in Canada with her aunt and uncle. What was meant to be a two-year adventure turned into a lifetime when she met a handsome young Dutchman, Everett. Together, they built a beautiful life in Canada.
She took great pride in many aspects of her life, including her sewing and knitting skills, the beautiful garden she cultivated with Everett, and her deep commitment to volunteering at St. Patrick’s, the CWL, and within her community. Cathy knitted over 1,200 newborn baby hats for the MHRH maternity ward. In her spare time, she sang with the St. Pat’s Church Choir and was an active participant in knitting and quilting clubs. Together with Everett, she traveled extensively throughout the world, creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Though Cathy’s health declined over the past decade due to dementia and ultimately Alzheimer’s, she never lost her infectious sense of humor, her chatty nature or her joy for life. Cathy was a devoted mother, Oma and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Vigil Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 13 Street SW, Medicine Hat on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2nd Ave NE, Medicine Hat on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Paolo Cervantes celebrant. Private Interment will take place at Redcliff Cemetery. Both Vigil Prayers and the Funeral Mass will be live-streamed. SHIRLEY RIEGER

1941- SHIRLEY RIEGER – 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Betty Rieger, a beloved sister, cousin, aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly.
Shirley was born to Bill and Mary Schneider in the Bashaw area where she lived within the farming community and received her early education. In 1956, she moved with her family to Redcliff. It is there she met her husband, Ken Rieger, and they were married June 1, 1973. Shirley will be remembered for her love to laugh, joke, and her strong work ethic. Friends may remember her for her work at Rose’s Solo Store and Dominion Glass in Redcliff, Nutone Cleaners, or for her 20+ year career at South Country Village in Medicine Hat. More recently, Shirley was as a volunteer “guest room rental lady” at The Courtyards condominiums.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Brackenbury; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Ken Rieger; and her other siblings and their spouses.
Shirley’s family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Aziz, the medical staff on 4 West at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, as well as Sherri from Home Care services for their care and compassion.
A private graveside service will take place at the family plot at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery.
