VERNON “VERN” HILMOE

VERNON “VERN” HILMOE October 12th, 1945 July 11th, 2025 Vernon Justin Hilmoe passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home on July 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79.
Vernon was born in Cabri, Saskatchewan to Justin and Phyllis Hilmoe and raised on the family farm. He graduated from Hazlet High School and completed his secondary education at the Peacock Tech in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to become a welder. Vern was a highly respected individual in the welding industry for over 60 years. He embarked on a true love story when he met the love of his life, Linda, that expanded over 59 years. Together they raised 3 beautiful children and were blessed with 6 grandchildren. Boating, camping and riding motorcycles were some of the special memories the family shared. Vern was passionate about restoring and collecting Classic Cars. His favorite vacations were attending Hot August Nights in Reno, NV and Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, AZ. His favourite restorations project was a 1960 Chev Impala Convertible. Vern loved hockey and his favourite team was the Toronto Maple Leafs and John Béleveau was his all-time favourite player. Left to mourn is his loving wife, Linda; his children, Melissa (Randy) Look, Tammy Calder, and Jason (Jodi) Hilmoe; grandchildren, Matthew Look, Sidney Calder, Nicholas Look, David Calder, Jacob Hilmoe & Katie Hilmoe; sisters, Myrna Pachal and Deanna Peterson. He is predeceased by his parents, Justin and Phyllis Hilmoe; and brother, Terrance Hilmoe. A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming months with details to follow.

CAROL ANN KELLY July 7, 1956 ~ July 16, 2025 It is with broken hearts the family of Carol Ann Kelly sadly announce her passing. She was a loving wife, amazing mother and an incredible Nana. Carol leaves behind to cherish her memory her adoring husband, Neil Kelly; son, Brad (Kelsie) Foote and their children, Sophie, Daphne, Cashius, Jayden and Chase; daughter, Candace (Chris) Bice and their children Quinn and Libby. MARILYN SAUVE

MARILYN SAUVE 1944 ~ 2025
It is with much heartache that we announce the passing of Marilyn ‘Joan’ Sauve on July 23, 2025, at the age of 81 years. Joan was born on April 1, 1944, in Drumheller, moving with her family to Medicine Hat in 1958. She married Gerald Sailer, in 1961, though this relationship wasn’t permanent together they had four children, Gordon, David, Allyson (Patrick), and Carolyn (Pat). In 1977, Joan married Walt Sauve, blending their families with a total of eight children.
From the age of five, Joan’s dream was to be a nurse, in 1976 she received her Nursing Diploma with High Honours, an Advanced Mental Health Nursing Certificate in 1993, a Bachelor of Nursing Degree in 1999 and in 2000 a Canadian Nurses Association Certificate in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
Highlights of Joan’s thirty plus year nursing career include eighteen years at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, Coordinator of CMHA’s Sexual Abuse Recovery program, owner of New Directions Counselling, and Regional Coordinator for the Southern Alberta Association of Registered Nurses.
In her down time, Joan belonged to the Medicine Hat Rotary Club, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Medicine Hat College Nursing Alumni, and was a lifelong member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church; traveled extensively with Walt; and enjoyed time with the ladies from ‘Book Club’ and Thursday’s card group.
Joan or ‘Grandma Soggy’ will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Arlo (Gerry), Safra, Ryland (Chelsea), Zenon (Janaya), Javen (Aliya), Zackery (Sabrina), Kade (Naomi), Israel (Callum), and Valen (Scarlett); great grandchildren, Parker, Malakai, Branson, Audrey, Sullivan, and Sophia; and beloved Shih Tzu, of fourteen years, Hardie.
Joan is preceded by her parents, Thomas and Isabel Sharp; husband, Walt Sauve, brother, Bruce ‘Sandy’ Sharp; oldest son, Gordon Sailer, as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A special thank you to the staff at Meadow Ridge Seniors Village and the Good Samitarians Society for caring for Joan in her final years.
The celebration of Joan’s life will take place in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich officiating. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The service will be live streamed. FREDRICK HOFFMAN 1940 ~ 2025 Fredrick “Fred” Irvine Hoffman of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Marion Hoffman, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the age of 85 years. The funeral service will be held in the First Assembly of God (395 9th Street SE) on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Roset officiating.
