CAROLE MASON (NEE SUTTON)
CAROLE MASON (NEE SUTTON) 1933 ~ 2025
Carole Bernice Mason (nee Sutton) passed away at Pinecrest Home for the Aged in Kenora, Ontario, on July 17, 2025, at the age of 91. Carole was born the third of six children to Richard (Dick) and Florence Sutton on September 21, 1933. It was a hard life in the days of the Depression, but the family survived, Life improved when
the family relocated from the farm in Wokepa to Killarney, Manitoba where Carole’s Dad found work at
the Hydro Electric Company. At a young age, Carole moved to Boissevain, Manitoba working as a telephone operator, where she met and married the father of her children, Elmer Pritchard. They eventually moved to Kenora, Ontario. Mom worked at Shop Easy before becoming a dental assistant for Dr. Brad Holmes.
After her first marriage ended, Carole partnered with and married Art Mason. Both worked very hard at
various undertakings including, buying and fixing up vehicles and houses to resell, owning and running
Rushing River Store, along with their regular jobs. Their success and hard work allowed them to travel
extensively, go boating on Lake of the Woods in their Apollo and later their houseboat, making many
fellow boaters their friends. Eventually, Carole and Art relocated to Medicine Hat, Alberta where Art retired from the pipeline. It was here that Carole took up the sport of golf which she enjoyed thoroughly (especially since she could consistently beat her daughter Debbie). Carole returned to Kenora after her husband Art passed away, to be where her three daughters were living.
Carole was predeceased by both parents and all of her siblings as well as her husband Art. She leaves to
mourn her loss her daughters, Debbie (Terry) Fairfield, Kim Pritchard (Peter Joseph), Terri (Todd) Sharples;
step-daughters, Susan (Paul) Finnsson, Wendy (Al) Martens, Kathy (Gregg) Martin; grandchildren, Cory
(Desmond) Turcotte (Mackenzie & Ally), Mandy Sharples (Mike Kraynyk), Cary (Dana) Sharples (Ryker &
Olivia), Chelsea (Alastair) Greig (Harrison); step-grandchildren, Dana (Jeff) Svane (Seanna & Tyler), Kristen (Jeff) Richards (Kenzie & Jace) and Dexter Martin. She also will be missed by good friends Loretta Fortner and Lorelie Gordon who both stayed true blue friends right up until her passing.
She also leaves her beloved fur baby Caylee.
We want to thank the staff at Pinecrest Home for the Aged for their amazing care and compassion to mom during her stay there, as well as to us, her family.
We send Mom off with much love and wish Carole peace and relief from pain.
