ELAINE STANGLER

ELAINE STANGLER February 18th, 1930 December 7th, 2024
Elaine Stangler, born February 18, 1930, peacefully departed this life December 7, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will be cherished forever by her family and friends. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, David & Gertrude; husband, Otto; 2 brothers, Leonard and Floyd; 4 sisters, Vera, Jean, Yvonne and Helen. Surviving her is her children, Diane (Pete), Daryl, Beverley, Wesley (Paula), and Wendy; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; as well as 3 great great grandchildren, whose memories of Elaine will live on with them and the countless friends of Elaine’s whose lives she touched.
Elaine was a beacon of strength and compassion whose life spanned decades of profound change and progress. Born and raised near Cupar Saskatchewan, she eventually settled in Alberta and started a family with Otto. Elaine was known for her remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued, loved, and she accepted everyone for who they were, a gift she shared generously throughout her life. Devoting herself to her family was her greatest joy and strength. Whether hosting family gatherings filled with laughter and an occasional flying cupcake, sharing her favorite recipes, her annual Christmas bake offs, or offering a listening ear, her presence was a constant reminder of solidity for the entire family, nurturing and guiding us with grace and wisdom. Elaine’s warmth, kindness and dedication enriched the lives of all that were fortunate to know her and will be forever treasured.
In addition to her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, she was employed at Central Park Lodge nursing home for many years and also volunteered at the Post. After retiring, she enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, China, Alaska and various locations in western Canada. Elaine very much enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching and her fishpond.
As per Elaine’s request there will not be a formal service. Her urn will be laid to rest with her husband at a private family service. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 18th, 2025 at the Kinplex from 1:00pm 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to AJ’S Loan Cupboard. Elaine’s family wish to thank Homecare staff for their care, patience, and support of our mother.

JACQUELINE JESSKE April 15, 1953 May 5, 2025 It is with a heavy heart that I, David Jesske, announce the passing of my precious wife of 50 years, Jacquie Jesske, on Monday May 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 72 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Kevin (Alison) Jesske; her grandchildren, Colby (Shaylin) Jesske, Haylie Jesske (Ethan Parson) and Travis Tewsley; great grandchildren Avery Johnson and Sienna Jesske; her family Gordon (Val) Stodolka, Joanne (Mike) Tuchscherer, Wayne (Linda) Stodolka, Bev (Ross) Statham, Deb Earl, Hope Jesske, Allan (Nancy) Jesske, Bonnie Haas, Lottie (Chris) Warren-Williams, Kim (Gary) Franz, Neil (Kathleen) Jesske, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jacquie was predeceased by her parents Ken and Phyllis Stodolka, David’s parents Edwin and Ruth Jesske and her brother-in-law Wade Haas.
Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME, on Tuesday May 13th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to the graveside service which will take place at 12 noon, on Wednesday May 14th at Hillside Cemetery. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet inside the main gate to the cemetery at 11:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. VAL FELESKY 1944 ~ 2025
Val Felesky passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, May 8, 2025. Val was born in Medicine Hat on February 15, 1944. He grew up in Medicine Hat and spent his high school summers working on the family ranch in Cardston. Val earned his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Alberta, where he met his amazing wife of now 57 years, Fay.
Throughout his life, Val excelled in business, investing, and real estate. He began his career at Knowlton Realty in Calgary before moving back to Medicine Hat to join his father, Ted, at Business Home and Farm Locators. He later started his own company, Felesky Commercial Realty, which thrived for over 40 years.
A kind, modest person, Val often understated his own accomplishments and sought to provide a great deal of support to others through charitable means. To Val, giving was always better than receiving. He brought honesty and integrity to everything he did, believing that his success was rooted in his strong faith. Passionate about commercial real estate, Val served as both Director and President of the Medicine Hat Real Estate Board. By attending many Toastmasters meetings, he diligently practiced and improved his public speaking skills, which benefited him throughout his career.
Val was an avid birder, spending many days birding and participating in group field trips, where he added to his list of sightings and enjoyed the companionship of fellow birders. When Cameron and Leigh were growing up, he always encouraged them to do their best and was a dedicated spectator at their sports activities from soccer to figure skating. Val enjoyed having his grandchildren visit. He would spend time reading to them when they were younger and playing golf as soon as they could learn to swing. Fay and Val loved to travel, exploring Europe, the U.S. and all of Canada more than once. Meeting friends for breakfast and coffee to share ideas was one of his favourite past times; discussions often became lively as they debated the latest current events.
Val’s kindness and dedication to both his family and business will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Fay; son, Cameron; daughter, Leigh (Layi); three grandchildren, Caiden, Clea, and Emery as well as his two brothers Mark and Garth (Val); nieces, Jami, Devon and nephew, Adam. Val was pre-deceased by his mother, Clea, and father, Ted.
A Celebration of Val’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street SW, Medicine Hat on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Val’s name may be made directly to the ALS Society, 7874 – 10th Ave. NE, Calgary, Alberta, T2E 8W1 or a charity of your choosing.
