Adolf was born on December 17, 1942, in Johannenstal, Ukraine to Adele and Andreas Seiler. Brother to three younger sisters Wilma, Frieda and Irene. At the age of two years old, he and his mother fled Ukraine after his father was conscripted into the army. In 1949, his family was reunited, and they lived in Germany before immigrating to Canada in 1953. Living first in Nokomis, Saskatchewan before moving to Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1960. In the mid 60’s he moved to Vancouver where he worked selling shoes and pursuing continuing education. He moved back to Calgary in the 70’s and shifted from selling shoes to furniture, ultimately landing in real estate. He moved back to Medicine Hat in the early 80’s where he worked in real estate and property management until he retired.
He recognized the hardships his parents had faced and the sacrifices they had made throughout their lives and held profound admiration for them and his German-Russian heritage.

Throughout his life he was an active volunteer and community supporter. He was a long-time member of the Medicine Hat Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge, and the Friends of Medalta Society.
He had a quick wit and a love for telling jokes. He made it a priority to call on his friends regularly, especially when he knew they were going through a hard time. He had a natural ability to strike up conversations with strangers. Wherever he went, he found friends.
