HASKELL, ROGER CHARLES

HASKELL, ROGER CHARLES Dec 22, 1946 Mar 17, 2025 It is with sadness of heart that we announce the passing of our brother, Roger Charles Haskell, who died on Monday, March17, 2025 in Calgary, AB at the age of 78.
Roger was born in Medicine Hat, AB to parents Harold and Ruth Haskell. Roger is survived by his three sisters and one brother. Joyce Ayers of Calgary, Beverly Haskell of Calgary, Karen (Wayne) Jackson of Regina and Doug (Jane) Haskell of Medicine Hat, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rogers school days began in Horsham, SK, where track and field was a passion. His High School years were completed in Medicine Hat before graduating from U of Calgary with a Phys. Ed degree. He had numerous teaching jobs in Calgary, Airdrie and Foremost, AB with a longstanding position of subteaching in Calgary to finish off his career. Even before retiring he enjoyed traveling (NYC and Vancouver Island were favorites) down hill skiing, cycling, and photography. He was eager to challenge anyone to a scrabble game and often was the winner!
He enjoyed all types of restaurants and was known for being a conversationalist at places such as Restaurant 56, various Chinese Restaurants and Village Ice Cream. He was honoured to be invited to have his photo featured on their pint tub!
We give our thanks to PLC unit 42 and Cedars Villa Extendicare for their support and dedication to his care in the last months of his life.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, a brother-in-law, a nephew, numerous aunts and uncles, several cousins and friend Ken Gartly. Expressions of sympathy are gratefully received at Choice Memorial Funeral Services in Calgary.
Internment will take place at a later date at Hillside Cemetery.


SCOTT SHEARDOWN

SCOTT SHEARDOWN 1967 ~ 2025 Scott Clarkson Sheardown, beloved husband of Brenda and father of Brock, passed away in Medicine Hat on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the age of 57 years. Scott was born in Medicine Hat where he graduated from Medicine Hat High School and then entered the retail industry. This is where he met his loving wife as they were destined to share the next 35 years together. Once their son Brock was born, their family was complete. For the past 31 years, Scott was a valued employee at South Country Village, helping the residents and staff through his role in maintenance. Along with Brenda and Brock, Scott leaves to cherish his memory: brother, James Sheardown (Coreen); two sisters, Donna-Lee Sheardown (Collin Stabler) and Carmen Rath (Mike); sister-in-law, Diane McMahon as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Connie Sheardown as well as one sister, Colleen Sheardown. A Celebration of Scott’s life will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 635 – 4 Street S.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Oz Lorentzen officiating. Private Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. DUCHCHERER, Leona

Leona Duchcherer 1943 ~ 2025 Leona Ann Duchcherer of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of Irv Duchcherer, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at the age of 81 years.
Leona was born on September 2, 1943, in Maple Creek Saskatchewan, daughter to James and Alotia Nikoleychuk. After attending her first few years of schooling at a rural school near in Maple Creek, her family moved to Medicine Hat and then Redcliff where Leona continued her schooling and started working at Dominion Glass in Redcliff. It was during this time that she met and started a whirlwind romance with Irv which led to a lifelong commitment and marriage in November 1960. Together they created many memories enriched with good friends, traveling adventures, and the love of family. They were thankful to have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in November.
Leona had a love for the outdoors, with camping, fishing, and volunteering as camp cook for boy scouts. Always bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Leona was also an avid golfer and curler. She enjoyed both sports, however she was especially proud of achieving two hole-in-ones during her golfing years.
Leona was also proud of her educational achievements, earning a teaching assistant certificate and dedicating herself to working with handicapped children in Drumheller. Her work in this field was deeply meaningful to her, and she felt honored to make a positive difference in the lives of those she served. She also worked at Canada Post for many years greeting the many customers that came through the doors.
Leona is survived by her two children, Terry (Tina) Duchcherer of Hanna, and Vicki (Murray) Trollope of Medicine Hat. Her legacy also includes her grandchildren: Bryce, Sara (Randy), Terra (Trevor), Trista (Mohammed), and Samantha (Nick), as well as ten great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Reagon of Redcliff, and her step-brother, Clinton Anderson of Redcliff.
Leona was predeceased by her parents, James and Alotia Nikoleychuk.
A funeral service will be held at PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Dave Cartwright officiating. A private interment will follow at the Redcliff Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Leona’s memory, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, AJ’s Loan Cupboard, or the Tree to Remember program available on her obituary page.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff at Masterpiece Retirement for their exceptional support for Leona’s health, happiness and palliative care during her time there.

ANDERSON, Deanna

Deanna Anderson 1940 – 2025 Mrs. Deanna Anderson of Redcliff, beloved wife of the late Mr. Donald James Anderson, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the age of 84.
Deanna Delores Dumont was born on September 20, 1940, in Maple Creek Saskatchewan to John (Jack) and Ruth Dumont. She spent her early years living a nomadic lifestyle, often in tents and wagons, on the dusty prairies from Wild Horse to Manyberries as her dad worked on various ranches. The family moved back and forth between Redcliff and the Wild Horse area several times in the mid-forties until permanently settling in Redcliff in 1947. Deanna went to grade school in Redcliff and later to Medicine Hat for high school. She married Don Anderson in 1959 and welcomed a son, Ronald James in 1960 and another son, Sean Leonard in 1970. She was a gifted artist, computer whiz, avid Cribbage player and enjoyed gardening and canning. Deanna loved playing darts with her boys and spending time with her family. She spent many a weekend camping and fishing on the dock at Reesor Lake. She worked for the city of Medicine Hat for over 35 years.
Deanna loved her family and will be dearly missed by Sean Anderson (Deb); daughter-in-law, Loretta Anderson (Brent); grandchildren, Michael Anderson (Korissa), Montana Anderson (Christopher), Devon Anderson (Michaela); numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard (Pat) Dumont; sisters, Cindy (Doug) Murray and Sandi Pfeifer (Sherman); brother-in-law, Gene (Donna) Diment; and numerous nieces and nephews. Deanna was predeceased by her parents, John (Jack) and Ruth Dumont; husband, Don Anderson; son, Ronald J Anderson; mother-in-law, Delima Diment; stepfather-in-law, Ernie Diment; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Collings, Shirley Anderson, Mavis Diment; brothers-in-law, Lyle Anderson, Rod Diment, John Collings, and Dwayne Pfeifer.
The family wish to thank the staff at AgeCare Riverview for the loving care they gave Deanna.

A private family interment will take place at Redcliff Cemetery.
A public Come and Go tea will be held at the Redcliff Legion on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 1-5PM.
