DAVID (DAVE) GREENSTEIN

DAVID (DAVE) GREENSTEIN 1954-2024 David Greenstein of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at the age of 70 years. David leaves to cherish his memory his nephews, Corey (Jane) Place of Medicine Hat, James Place of Cypress County, and Kevin Gehring of Medicine Hat, as well as many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Rose Greenstein; three brothers, Nick, Bill, and Jack; and his sister, Betty Gehring. David graduated from high school in 1973 and chose the electrical trade. He became a journeyman electrician in 1979 and a master electrician in 1983. He worked in different locations throughout Canada, most notably on the General Motors plant in Oshawa, ON, and in Ft. McMurray for several years in the electrician’s union. Dave was an active outdoorsman, avid hunter, and fisherman. He was known for his beer and winemaking adventures and smoking various meats to highlight his hobbies. He was always active with furry companions, most recently his love for the chocolate lab breed and his faithful companion, Nicole, his chocolate lab, who meant the world to him. Dave was easy to get along with and always inviting to anyone. He had a small, close group of friends and family whom he cherished. He spent many hours learning everything he could about historical events and enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of history. He was a collector of many things, from old clocks and pocket watches to his love of old stereo equipment, and he always found room for more treasures. He will be deeply missed by those who have had the good fortune to cross his path over his 70 years in and around Redcliff and across Canada. AMBER BENOIT December 18, 1984 ~ December 13, 2024

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Amber Margret Benoit announce her sudden passing on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the age of 39 years.

Amber was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on December 18, 1984, alongside her twin sister, Jade. In her early years the family moved to Medicine Hat and Amber attended school in Irvine and then graduated from Eagle Butte High School in 2002.  Very quickly, Amber found her passion working with those who have disabilities. Her caring nature and nurturing disposition had people drawn to her from all walks of life.

Amber then met the love of her life, Henri; the two were married in 2013, and started their family first with Beau and then Jase.  Amber was always meant to be a wife and mother, and her love for her family could be seen by anyone looking.  Along with her husband, Henri and her sons, Beau and Jase, Amber is survived by her parents, Dean (Vicki) & Susan (Dwayne); in-laws, Roger and Beverly; twin sister, Jade; younger sister, Raylene (Darcy); brother, Ryan; grandmother, Elaine Springer; sister-in-law, Hollie (Jamie); brother-in-law, Andy (Kristen); nieces and nephews: Kiera, Ryder, Zack, Jasper, Trinity, Ariel, Jasmin and Indie as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  Amber and her family also opened their home to two extra special people, Mark and Pam.

LES ERIC NICKERSON April 4th, 1952 December 13th, 2024 Les (Leslie) Eric Nickerson of Medicine Hat, AB passed away on December 13th, 2024, at the age of 72 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lindsay Comeau (Brian Lensen), Lealand, Tammy Rosenau (Mark), Nicole Ranger (Neil); grandkids, Shyanne Magnus (Taylor), Brayden Ranger, Rhianna Robson, Ethan Comeau, Robert Ranger, Adam Ranger, Dexton Comeau; great granddaughter, Hensley Magnus; siblings, Richard (Joyce), Sterling (Cheryl), Keith (Donna), Laura Cranton (Wayne), Bentley (Stephanie); as well as numerous nieces and nephews; extended family, Carol Kopec, Materi (Bill Kaleta), Gary Schaan (Angie), Tim Hammel and Patty Simpson; last but not least, fur baby, Gizmo.
Les was predeceased by his wife, Betty; mother, Harriet; father, Charles; as well as brother, Russell (Sheila).
Les was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia and at a young age, headed out west where he made Alberta his forever home. He was quick to find work ranching which he enjoyed very much until he took a job with the City of Medicine Hat where he stayed until his retirement in 2017. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors.
If you ask any of his friends or family, he will be most remembered by his witty unique and embarrassing sense of humor.

MAXINE GLADYS AUSMUS May 23, 1940 ~ December 16, 2024
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Maxine Gladys Ausmus of Medicine Hat. She passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the age of 84 years.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Larry (Rita) and Randy (Marion); one daughter, Pam (Derwin) Ristau; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; Larry’s children: Clint (Nicole) – Brody, Shelby; Bradley (Megan) – Quinn, Ashlyn, Kaden; Douglas (Michelle) – Everlee, Emmett; Darcy (Ivy) – Jace, Cooper, Karlee. Randy’s children: Zane (Deandra) – Gabriel; Brandt. Pam’s children – DeeJay (Iza) – Corbin, Sterling; Nathan (Dana) – Jacob.
Maxine is also survived by her sister, Doreen (Arden) Mack and brother, Mervin (Elaine) Ginther; sister-in-law, Evelyn Ausmus and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maxine was predeceased by her devoted husband, Arthur on September 11, 2023, after 66 years of marriage; parents John & Martha Ginther; parents-in-law Gustav & Justina Ausmus; sisters-in-law: Hertha (Fred) Mertin, Ida (Sam) Holstein, Linda (Anton) Brehm; and brothers-in-law: Herbert (Adela) Ausmus and Reinhold Ausmus.
Maxine was born on May 23, 1940, in Kindersley, SK, and grew up on the family farm near Mendham, SK. In 1957, she married her one true love, Arthur Ausmus. Together they worked side by side raising their family and running their mixed farming operation. In 1995, they retired to Park Meadow Estates in Medicine Hat where they became actively involved in the community making new lifelong friends. It was here that Maxine showcased her love for flowers and spearheaded the garden club for many years.
Maxine and Art spent many winters in Palm Springs where they enjoyed an ever-growing circle of friends. Maxine loved to visit and was always a gracious host. In December 2022, Maxine and Art moved to Meadowlands Retirement Home where they resided until their passing.
Maxine was a gracious woman filled with love and integrity, a woman of faith who loved and trusted God beyond measure. She was a devoted wife who worked alongside Art to build their farm and home. She was a loving mother teaching her children the importance of faith and family; taking pride in what they do. She was incredibly proud of her grandsons and great-grandchildren and always took an interest in their lives, loving to play cards and board games on any occasion. Maxine displayed extreme patience, had a kind heart and a gentle touch. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Celebration of Maxine’s life will be held at Victory Lutheran Church, 2793 Southview Drive S.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Private Interment will take place prior to the church service. HENRY SCHLITT April 16, 1941 ~ December 12, 2024
Henry Charles Schlitt, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Sharron Schlitt, devoted father to Rod and Deanna (Ken & Deanna Siemens), and a cherished grandfather. He had six siblings who were best friends their entire lives.
Born in 1941, Henry built a life founded on hard work, family, and faith. His journey began in Prince George, where he ran a dry-cleaning business before moving on to work as a steam and gas fitter in Fort St. James and Williams Lake. Throughout his career, Henry was known for his skill, dedication, and unwavering work ethic. He retired in 2006, but his passion for life and helping others never slowed.
In his golden years, Henry devoted his time to his family, friends, and giving back to his community. A true outdoorsman, his greatest loves were hunting and fishing, and his home was filled with photos and mounted trophies that told stories of countless adventures. Henry’s love of nature and his zest for life were only matched by his kindness and sense of humor, which left a lasting impression on all who met him.
Whether he was fixing vehicles with his grandchildren, volunteering at church, or assisting a neighbor in need, Henry was always ready to lend a hand. His selflessness and willingness to serve others will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Henry’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
