ANNETTE EGLAND

ANNETTE EGLAND February 8, 1937 November 2, 2024 Our emotions are tangled between the sadness for the empty space in our lives with the passing of our Mom (lovingly called “Nonee” by her grandchildren), and the joy we have that she has joined her soulmate, Russell Egland, who she was married to for over 60 years.
Annette was born in Spalding, Saskatchewan, and moved to Eastend, Saskatchewan, in 1952 where she met Russell. They were married in 1955. Annette kept herself very busy raising their family and embracing the everyday challenges that accompanied being a farmer’s wife. She was a member of the Kinette Club and had numerous hobbies, including ceramics, knitting, crocheting and reading romance novels, when she had the time. She was an extremely talented chef and baker. Annette was the kind of person that people were drawn to, and had many friends in Eastend, Medicine Hat, and throughout her and Russell’s travels abroad.
The end of her journey was difficult but we are grateful that our mom gave us time to say goodbye and let us know that she was ready. Her soul was released from this world in peace.
Annette is pre-deceased by her love, Russell, mother (Mabel Selmon), Father (Morris Selmon), and her brother (Max). She is survived by her sister, Sandra (Maurice and Family). She is also survived by her sons, Lee and Dean (Marcelle), and daughters, Tracy and Nina (Craig), grandchildren Jeffrey (Ashley), Kylan (Jordan), Kayden, Christopher (Martina) and Allison, and step-grandchildren, Brandi and Brandt (Stephanie). Annette was also blessed with great grandchildren, Peyton, Blakeleigh, and Callie, and step-greatgrandchildren Laine, Payson, Lauren and Chandler. A large family that loved her dearly.
Her love and spirit will never be forgotten. We will love you Mom/Nonee/Grandma, always.
Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in the memory of Annette Egland.

MARY ELIZABETH BAIRD

MARY ELIZABETH BAIRD November 12, 1940 November 12, 2024 Treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Mary Elizabeth Baird was given the greatest gift by God on the night of her birthday, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, when she entered her forever reward in the kingdom of Heaven during the playing of her late husband’s favourite song, the legendary “Red River Valley.” Born in 1940, Mary lived an amazing life, raising a loving family, showing herself a witness to her boundless faith in Jesus Christ and having travelled from her humble origins on a farm in Vilna, Alberta to such exotic places as Rome, the Caribbean Sea and Aruba, just to name a few. Mary touched many lives and made countless friends, bringing smiles, joy and love to everyone who knew her, offering a helping hand or a word of Godly advice to anyone who needed it. She was a director of World Missionary Fellowship, was active in the Church of God for many years, and loved spending time with her family and friends, including those among the residents and staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Medicine Hat. Mary loved playing cards, reading, and fishing. Mary had a full and unique sense of humour and always shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ down to her very last day on Earth, when she told her children and their families to “stay close to Jesus, so we can all be together again.” Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Al Baird, and is survived by her brothers Ed and Tony; numerous nieces and nephews; her children, Al (Sue), Jackie (Adam), Jonn (Nikki); grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan (Nicole), Jessica, Adam, Branden, Drayden, Dalten (Marissa), Robin (Jackson), Maryssa, Noah, Will (Kela), Alex; and many beautiful great-grandchildren. We are all grateful for the blessing of her, and she will be so desperately missed. In accordance with Mary’s wishes, celebration of life will be private. Denise passed away peacefully at the Calgary Foothills Hospital on Thursday, October 31st, 2024, at the age of 64 years old, after a long, arduous battle with cancer. She is survived by her two daughters, Amy Kay Hauck (Clint) and Kate Michalczyk; her two grandchildren, Coleton Hauck (Ashlee), and Paige Harrison Hauck; as well as her great-grandchildren; Nevaeh, Hudson, and Parker. She also leaves behind her sister, Anita Nagel (Cliff); three brothers, Robert Hauck (Brenda), Darcy Hauck, and Leslie Hauck; nephews and niece, Clay Nagel (Madison), Brayden Hauck, Jared Hauck, and Kayla Hauck (Jarod); as well as their children, Ivy Nagel, and Brinley Flexhaug. Denise was pre-deceased by her loving mother, Katherine Hauck, and her adoring father, George Wendlin Hauck, whom she missed very much. We are sure that they met her with open arms and are comforted by the fact that they are together now. Through the years, Denise was an avid pool player and baking aficionado. In her later years, she spent a lot of time crocheting blankets and other items for her family and friends, as well as baby caps and booties to donate to the hospital. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed group activities of any kind with family, whether it be meals, canning tomatoes, or taking long drives and “car-dancing” to the music. Denise was born in Leader SK, on October 11th, 1960. She was a full-time bartender, working in various bars doing what she loved most: caring for people and making them laugh. She had a wonderful sense of humour and a contagious laugh. She loved nothing more than cracking a beer, joking around, bantering with her patrons, and driving her children crazy. She will be truly missed. A Graveside Service will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of her life will take place at a later date. ERNIE BONIN

ERNIE BONIN 1936 ~ 2024
After a life led full of love for his family, it is with much sadness, we share that Ernie is gone. He passed away in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the age of 88 years. He raised us girls, Elan and Lorie, his two daughters as a single father. Dad was the best father, grandfather and great-grandfather to Rylee, Matthew, Conor, Sienna and Xavier.
Our Dad was born, raised and lived in Medicine Hat his whole life. He started at Motor Vehicles in 1961 and 30 years later he retired as Manager. Throughout the years, Dad made lasting friendships. They bowled together, won many trophies and laughed a lot!!
Our dad devoted his life to us girls and his grandchildren… he tied skates, drove looking for Pokémon cards, Beanie Babies and made home cooked lunches for school days. He would do anything for his grandchildren.
Dad was fortunate to have travelled over the years. A road trip to the USA with Elan, Lyle & Rylee to Disneyland, Hawaii, Omaha, Pella and his most treasured trips to Italy to meet his father’s family.
Dad was very proud of his house and yard. He would spend hours outside getting it to look perfect!
The highlight in 2023 was the birth of his first great-granddaughter, Sienna; and in 2024, the birth of his great-grandson, Xavier. Oh how he loved the video calls and pictures!
Dad’s last few years were taken over by the life robbing disease of Dementia. He never forgot who we were and Dad knew us until the end. As much as we are heartbroken, we are relieved Dad’s awful suffering has ended. Hug your loved ones while you can.
Dad is survived by his daughters and families: Elan (Lyle) Pigula, Lorie Bonin-Sandford (Robert McNaught); Rylee Pigula (Brent Trudeau), Matthew and Gina Sandford, Conor Sandford, Danielle, Sienna, Xavier and Madison.
A huge heartfelt thank you to Bruce and Carl for faithfully visiting dad at least three times a week; Linda, Jacquie and Patty, we thank you for your years of friendship and visits to Dad.
In Ernie’s honour, a private family interment will be held at a later date. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting http://www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is
