It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Geraldine Kiebel (nee Kambeitz), who left this world peacefully in Medicine Hat, AB, on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the age of 79 years. Geraldine was born in Empress, AB, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for family and friends. Geraldine was preceded in death by her loving parents, Joe and Nellie Kambeitz; her sister, Janet; sisters-in-law, Roxanne, Karen, and Mary; brother-in-law, Jim; and her son-in-law, Brian. Her legacy is carried on through her devoted spouse, George Kiebel, and her two adoring daughters, Pam Kiebel and Sandra Sinclair (Daryl Swenson). Geraldine’s family was her pride and joy, and she was a treasured grandmother to Colby Stonham, Holly (Kevin) Vandorp, Krista (Aaron) Fletcher, Kari Sinclair, and Kyle Sinclair. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, with another on the way, ensuring that her spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of future generations. Geraldine dedicated part of her life to serving her community, having worked at the Medicine Hat glass factory and at the Empress hospital. She was known for her strong work ethic and her compassionate nature, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. A woman of many interests and hobbies, Geraldine had a profound love for live theatre and an adventurous spirit that led her to travel to beautiful places such as Nashville, Hawaii, Germany, Alaska, Mexico, Arizona, and eastern Canada. Her travels reflected her open-hearted nature and her desire to embrace the world around her. Home was where her heart truly lay, and she took immense pride in maintaining a well-kept home that welcomed family and friends alike. Her door was always open, and she enjoyed countless visits from her nieces, nephews, grandkids, and neighbors, creating a warm and loving environment filled with laughter and joy. Geraldine’s love for the outdoors was evident in her enjoyment of camping and sitting in nature. She found contentment in the simple pleasures, like enjoying a warm beer while surrounded by loved ones. Although she had little interest in playing cards, she took great pride in learning a new game called “Skip Bo,” showcasing her playful spirit and willingness to embrace new experiences. Geraldine was known for keeping a calendar of birthdays, anniversaries, appointments (as well as everyone’s appointments) and the weather. Never argue with her about what the weather was like the previous year, she’d tell you in an instant!! Her positive attitude was infectious, and she always saw the best in every situation. Geraldine was a devoted wife, a caring mother, an affectionate grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her, and she reveled in their accomplishments and happiness. Her book had no unwritten pages, very full and a happy story. As we celebrate the life of Geraldine Kiebel, we remember a woman who embodied kindness, joy, and an unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. LYLE BOWLES

LYLE BOWLES
Lyle Bowles of Medicine Hat, Alberta went to be with his Lord & Saviour on November 7, 2024 at the of 87 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores, his son Scott, his daughter Leann (Gordon), three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother LeVern, two sisters Donna May Moore, BettyAnn Bespflug and a brother-in-law Harvey Wasilow.
He was predeceased by his parents Drexel and Judy Bowles, two sisters Marion and Lillian in infancy, four brothers Delroy, Ronald (Sylvia), Donald (Darlene), Keith (Margaret), three brothers-in-law Ken Moore, Cliff Bespflug, Benny Ackerman and one sister-in-law Eileen Ackerman.
Lyle was born, raised and educated in the Armstrong Creek and East Farewell area. He loved sports and with five brothers and two sisters they had a ready made baseball team. He left home at the age of 15. For many years he worked on several ranches so he could send money home to support the rest of his family. Lyle also worked at the Manyberries Experimental Station. It was there, in 1959, that he made a name for himself in the boxing ring by winning the Golden Gloves of Canada. He later used this special talent when he worked as a Bartender (Bouncer) in the Maple Creek Commercial Hotel.
In 1964, Lyle married Dolores Wasilow, the same year he started selling Electrolux. Lyle was a born salesman. Several people told him that he could sell ice to a Eskimo or glasses to a blind man. During the 24 years he was in the sales field (Electrolux) he broke many records and was the recipient of many awards and many exotic trips. In 1966, he was the top salesman in Canada. Because of his sales abilities he was able to fulfil his dream and in 1967, Lyle and Dolores were able to purchase their ranch. Lyle loved working with cattle and riding the range. He was an excellent roper and often kept up to five sets of wresting pairs, at local branding’s. Although he didn’t have any veterinary training he usually knew when his animals were sick and knew how to treat them successfully.
Lyle loved children and was happiest when he was holding them on his lap or taking them for rides on his horses or quads. His family was very important to him and he was always very proud of their accomplishments. Lyle carried himself with incredible confidence. He was full of compassion, love and warmth. His love for people was evident in every thing he did. He was very tender hearted and generous. If he saw a need he always tried to fill it. He had a wonderful infectious sense of humour and loved making people laugh. If he could get them laughing he would be laughing along with them but if they were crying he would often be crying too. He had a constant twinkle in his eye, was very quick witted and you often didn’t know what he was going to say or do next.
Lyle radiated his Christian faith. You couldn’t know him long without knowing where he stood spiritually, he was not ashamed of his faith,
In 2009, Lyle and Dolores bought a condo in Medicine Hat where they were able to enjoy the best of both worlds before they left the ranch in 2024 to move to Medicine Hat.
The funeral service will be held at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Gries officiating. Interment has taken place at Hillside Cemetery. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
