DONALD JAMES MITCHELL March 20, 1947 ~ August 15, 2024
Donald James Mitchell, born on March 20, 1947, at Leader Saskatchewan, was called home by the Lord on August 15, 2024. He is lovingly survived by his wife JoAnne of 47 years and by his loving family Scott (Maria), Mark, Chris (Elisha), Bradley (Tracy), his precious grandchildren: Keadon, Mia, Hailey, Kensey, and Marisa and sister Faye Rolick. Don was predeceased by his parents Jim & Johanna Mitchell, in-laws Tom & Bea Armstrong and his first wife Wendy. Don had a precious love for the Lord and served him for many, many years. He leaves these words: “I give thanks unto God for everything”. Though his time here on earth is done, his eternal life with the Lord has just begun. Our family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at emergency and 2nd floor Bethesda Regional Heath Centre in Steinbach for their support and compassion in Don’s last days. JACK CLEGG June 1, 1941 ~ August 12, 2024
It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Jack Wayne Clegg, beloved husband and soulmate of Susana Clegg, announce his passing in Medicine Hat on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the age of 83 years. Along with Susana, Jack’s memory will be forever cherised by his children, Allan Clegg, Donna (Calvin) Kronebusch, Brenda Doucette and Jack (Karyn) Clegg; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine LeBlanc and Denise Norton; brothers, Fred (Maggie) Clegg and Rick (Eunice) Clegg; brother-in-law, John (Anna) Fehr as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Edith Clegg as well as one sister, Donna Clegg.
On June 1, 1941, Jack was born into a proud military family, a heritage that shaped much of his life. In 1972, He met the love of his life, Susana, and together as soulmates they shared an extraordinary journey for 52 years.
Jack dedicated 33 years of his life to serving with communications for the Canadian Armed Forces. His career took him around the world, and through his work, he experienced diverse cultures and built lasting friendships. After retiring as a Warrant Officer from the military in 1992, Jack found joy in a simpler life, working at a pet store, where his love for animals shone through.
An avid outdoorsman, Jack found peace and fulfillment in fishing and camping, passions he pursued throughout his life. His love for mentoring and guiding the younger generation led him to serve with Scouts Canada for over a decade, where he left a lasting impact on many young lives.
In retirement, Jack and Susana continued their adventures, traveling extensively and creating countless cherished memories together. Jack’s kindness, wisdom, and sense of adventure will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A come and go celebration of Jack’s life will be held at Brenda Doucette’s residence, 91 Craven Place S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, August 31, 2024, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to dress casual. Rev. Diane Beach was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on May 21, 1941, to Eugene & Edith Eckart. Diane passed away August 21, 2024, after a very brief illness. Diane was predeceased by her husband Hilton George on December 17, 2023. Diane leaves to cherish her memory by her children, David (Brenda) Beach and their children Jenna (Chance) Burgess of Calgary, AB, Ian Beach (Kimberly Beeman) of Vancouver, BC – Darren (Tracy Sterling) and his children Kolbi Beach (Madison Andrus) of Medicine Hat and Reid Beach of Edmonton, AB – Lyndell Beach and her children Ryan Schibler (Ashley McDougall) of Medicine Hat, AB and Jennifer Schibler (Dustin Schulte) and their children Charley & Haley Schulte of Leduc, AB, and Trevor Beach of Lyon, France and his children Erik Beach (Clara Callon) of Calgary, AB and Katelin Beach of Calgary, AB.
Diane attended school in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan involving herself in her studies as well as many sports. She played basketball and curled during her school years, she also enjoyed golfing, waterskiing, skating and tried skateboarding with her kids.
Diane met Hilton in 1959, and they married in 1961, during these years she also received her nursing degree in 1965 while working at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. She worked in OR, ER, pediatrics and was the driving force behind the set-up of the day surgery department. All of this was accomplished while raising four active children.
In 1989 Diane had made a decision of answering the call to the ministry and by 1990 had moved to Vancouver, BC to attend the Vancouver School of Theology full time.
Diane had placements in Red Deer and Medicine Hat, AB but was also active in many neighbouring communities.
Diane spent many an hour being involved in attending sport activities whether it be her children or grandchildren.
Diane was actively involved in quilting, Prairie Gleaners, and many functions held at Riverside Presbyterian Church and St John’s Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 1:00 pm at St John’s Presbyterian Church with Bob Cruickshank officiating.

CLARA MILLER 1927-2024
Clara Miller of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Valentine Miller, passed away very peacefully on August 19, 2024 at the wonderful age of 96 years. Mom was born on October 10, 1927 in Blumenfeld, Saskatchewan to loving parents, Nicolaus and Margaret (Materi) Leismeister. Her early years were spent on the family farm just outside of Prelate, Saskatchewan. Mom was the fourth in line out of a family of eleven. Mom left school early as she was needed at home. When some of her younger siblings were old enough to take care of the even younger ones, Mom went to work for other farming families to help them with their children and with cooking and cleaning. She then moved to Medicine Hat to work in the restaurant field as a waitress. There was one more stint at home to help out and then in 1952 Mom and her girlfriend moved to Calgary. While Mom and Dad knew each other as teenagers, Dad had moved away to seek his fame and fortune. God had plans for them for sure. Dad moved to Calgary that same year and it didn’t take long for God to reunite them. From that point on, they were inseparable until Dad’s passing in 2011. Mom and Dad moved back to Medicine Hat and were married on February 2, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Church. Two years later they moved to Vauxhall, AB. where Dad started his career in the gravel pit industry and Mom became a stay at home mom. This is where all four of us children were raised. Mom was a member of the CWL in Vauxhall and helped out with the Parents Home and School Committee. Her homemade apple pies, butter tarts, buns and roast beef dinners were legendary. In 1987, Mom and Dad retired back to Medicine Hat. Their first retirement years were spent visiting and playing cards with relatives and old friends, having coffee at the Mall, camping trips in their motorhome, some travelling and many, many visits with family. When Dad’s health began to decline, they gave up camping and travelling and stayed closer to home. Mom took care of Dad right up to his passing and then a year later she moved into the Wellington Retirement Residence to begin a new chapter of her life. Our shy, quiet Mother became more outgoing and enjoyed many of the activities the Wellington had to offer. Mom resided here until her passing. The Wellington staff, each and every one of them, were truly an extension of our family and we are forever grateful for their kind and caring hands that helped Mom every day for the past eleven and a half years. They were a blessing from God for Mom and for all of us. We thank-you from the bottom of our hearts. In addition, we also wish to thank the entire Alberta Health Care System. The doctors, nurses, specialists, administrative staff and hospitals to name a few have always given our Mother excellent care. Leaving to cherish our Mother’s beautiful memory are her four children, LaWanda (Donald) Skretting of Lethbridge, Janice (Dale) Maddaford and Corinne Sisson of Medicine Hat and Lyle Miller of Vauxhall, seven grandchildren, Donny (Lindsay Ment) Skretting, Dwayne (Coralee) Skretting, Wendi Skretting, Deena (Dennis) Magtoto, Jennifer (Jamie) Bleau, Damon (Kenzie) Miller and Zackary Miller, twelve great grandchildren, Jayce Zielke, Kaden Ment and Nash Ment, Shelby Skretting, Wyatt (Dakota) Skretting, Owen (Rachel) Skretting, Brooklyn and Hayli Gudmundson, Ashton and Sayda Magtoto, Jade and Taliyah Bleau and two great- great grandchildren, Fern and Sage Skretting. She also leaves to cherish her memory her brother, John (Joan) Lesmeister, her sister, Frances Bell, her sister, Teresa Trevison and her sister-in-laws, Rose Lesmeister and Mildred Lesmeister as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Dad’s family, Leonard Miller, Lena Eresman, Susan (George) Costea and Violet Fischer. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband, Valentine Miller, Parents Nicolaus and Margaret (Materi) Leismeister, brothers, Leonard, Joe, Peter, Tony, Nicky and Eddie and her sister, Magdalena Nelson together with several brothers and sisters in law. Mom had an abundance of grace and was truly a joy to be with. She was a woman of great and unwavering faith. She loved her Lord and knew she was always in His hands. Mom will be forever missed by her family and friends. We love you to the moon and back! You were the best Mom and Grandma ever! Those who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the prayer service and one hour prior to the funeral mass.
